Saudi Arabia’s Zamil Structural Steel has landed an $82 million contract for structural steelwork and façades at Qiddiya City’s National Tennis Centre.

Construction Week said Zamil Structural Steel, a subsidiary of Advanced Building Industries Company (SENAAT), signed the 19-month agreement covering the fabrication, supply and installation of structural steel and external façades.

The contract was awarded by Qiddiya Tennis Centre Joint Venture, comprising Bouygues Bâtiment International and Saudi contractor Almabani General Contractors.

The joint venture is responsible for the main construction works, which began earlier this year.

Designed by international architecture firm Populous, the National Tennis Centre will feature 30 courts and a total spectator capacity of approximately 33,000.

The complex will include a 15,000-seat Centre Court with a retractable roof, an 8,000-seat multipurpose arena and additional competition and practice courts.

The venue is designed to host major international tennis tournaments, including events organised by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), alongside concerts and other sporting and entertainment events.

The National Tennis Centre will also feature a high-performance training centre with gym, hydrotherapy and physiotherapy facilities, alongside player recovery areas and media facilities.

Community tennis programmes, public spaces and fan zones are planned to support wider participation in the sport.

The venue’s multipurpose facilities will also accommodate concerts, esports and other sporting and cultural events.

Located around 45km west of Riyadh, the National Tennis Centre is intended to become a major tennis destination in the region, supporting the development of the sport in Saudi Arabia.

Qiddiya City is being developed as a sports, entertainment and tourism destination, with plans for major sporting venues, theme parks and other attractions as part of Saudi Arabia’s wider leisure and tourism ambitions.
