Veltins Arena stadium naming rights Image: Schalke 04

German football club FC Schalke 04 has sealed a 10-year extension of their long-standing partnership with Veltins Brewery which includes stadium naming rights.

Sports Mint said the new deal with Brauerei C. & A. Veltins secures the agreement through to 2035 and reinforces one of the most enduring sponsor relationships in European football.

Veltins will continue as the main sponsor, stadium naming rights holder, and exclusive pouring partner, with the club’s home venue set to remain the Veltins-Arena for at least another decade.

FC Schalke 04, commonly known as Schalke 04, is a professional sports club from the Schalke district of Gelsenkirchen, North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany).

It is best known for its football team which plays in the 2. Bundesliga, the second tier of the German football league system, following relegation from the Bundesliga in 2022-2023.

The Veltins Arena is a retractable roof-and-pitch football stadium in Gelsenkirchen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It opened in 2001 as the new home ground for FC Schalke 04.

The stadium has a capacity of 62,271 (standing and seated) for league matches and 54,740 (seated-only) for international matches.

Under the new extended contract, Veltins will retain front-of-shirt branding, broad in-stadium visibility, and hospitality and catering rights across matchdays and non-football events hosted at the arena.

The brewery will also continue to supply its products throughout the stadium as Schalke’s official beverage partner, maintaining full category exclusivity.

The agreement spans Schalke’s men’s, women’s, and academy teams, embedding the Veltins brand across the club’s entire football operation rather than limiting the partnership to first-team exposure.

Matthias Tillmann, CEO of FC Schalke 04, said, “I would like to sincerely thank Veltins for extending our long-standing partnership. The discussions were positive throughout and driven by a shared desire to continue on this path together with a strong signal for the future.

“We have agreed on a financially robust deal that will give us real momentum in the years ahead. Bringing an overall successful partner year in 2025 to a close with such a positive commitment sends a very strong message.”

Fabian Veltins, Marketing Managing Director at the C. & A. Veltins Brewery, added, “This contract extension underlines the strength and continuity of our partnership, something that is also deeply embraced by Schalke’s supporters. With its multi-functional character, the Veltins-Arena has become a symbol of a likeable and sustainable sporting partnership.”

The partnership between Schalke 04 and Veltins has been in place for almost 30 years.

Ahead of the 1997/98 season, Veltins first became the club’s shirt sponsor, followed by the acquisition of pouring rights and, since 2005 has held the naming rights to the Veltins-Arena.

Over the years, both partners have delivered numerous successful projects together, including the Veltins fan campaigns, which have created many special experiences, and “Dein Heimspiel”, giving amateur teams the opportunity to play a match at the Veltins-Arena.
