Spectators swarm US Open inaugural Fan Fest

More than 1 million people witnessed the power of tennis live during the 2024 US Open.

‘us open’ stated that America’s Grand Slam welcomed a record number of fans to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York in 2024 surpassing the seven-figure mark for the first time.

One of the main-draw highlights that augmented the fan experience was the US Open’s inaugural Fan Fest held from September 7th-8th.

The main draw number came on the heels of the first-ever seven-day US Open Fan Week which welcomed more than 219,000 fans on its own and featured a full suite of signature events and activities each day and night. That number represented a 37 percent increase from 2023.

The US Open Tennis Championships, commonly called the US Open, is a hard court tennis tournament organized by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) annually in Queens, New York City.

The 2024 US Open was the 144th edition of tennis’ US Open and the fourth and final Grand Slam event of the year. It was held on outdoor hard courts at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City from August 26th-September 8th.

The USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center is a stadium complex within Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens, New York City, United States. It has been the home of the US Open Grand Slam tennis tournament, played every year in August and September, since 1978 and is operated by the United States Tennis Association (USTA). The facility has 22 courts inside its precincts and 12 in the adjoining park.

The seating varies by stadium within the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The Arthur Ashe Stadium has the most seating options and holds 23,771 spectators. The other seating options include the Louis Armstrong Stadium, which seats 14,053. The Grandstand seats 8,125 and Court 17 seats 2,800.

The Flushing Meadows-Corona Park is a public park in the Northern part of Queens in New York City, New York, US. It is bounded by I-678 on the East, the Grand Central Parkway on the West, Flushing Bay on the North, and Union Turnpike on the South.

‘us open’ further stated that a total of 1,048,669 fans came to the tournament over its full three weeks: An eight percent increase over 2023. Attendance for the two weeks of the main draw reached a new high mark of 832,640.

Fans with a grounds pass were able to enjoy exclusive access to the enhanced grounds activities and access to a Finals Fan Viewing Party with on-court seating inside the Louis Armstrong Stadium. The viewing party featured live look-ins to the Blue Carpet celebrity arrivals as well as both the Men’s and Women’s Singles Finals.
