The Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur F.C. (UK) is in talks with technology company Google over a naming-rights deal for the club’s £1.2 billion stadium.

‘Evening Standard’ stated that Daniel Levy, the Spurs Chairman, has long been working to secure a lucrative partner for the 62,850-capacity ground, which has been known as the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since it opened in 2019.

The Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, commonly referred to as Tottenham or Spurs, is a professional football club based in Tottenham, London, England. It competes in Premier League, the top flight of English football.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is the home of Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur in North London, replacing the club’s previous ground, White Hart Lane. With a seating capacity of 62,850, it is the third-largest football stadium in England and the largest club ground in London (UK).

California (US)-based Google LLC is an American multinational technology company that focuses on search engine technology, online advertising, cloud computing, computer software, quantum computing, e-commerce, artificial intelligence (AI), and consumer electronics.

‘Evening Standard’ further stated that Levy is aiming for a world-record figure worth around £25m-a-year but is yet to find a suitable partner after talks with a number of global brands including Uber, FedEx and Amazon.

An agreement with Google, one of the largest companies in the world, would be a coup for Levy and Spurs’ first ever Chief Commercial Officer Todd Kline, although a deal is not thought to be close.

The Internet giant already has agreements with the National Basketball Association (NBA) and Major League Baseball (MLB) in the United States and in March they announced a multiyear deal with McLaren Racing (British motor racing team) as a new partner of the Formula One team and the MX Extreme E (innovative all-electric off-road series) team.

As well as football, Spurs’ home regularly hosts concerts and other sports, including a National Football League (NFL) game between the New York Giants and the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

The Premier League team Manchester City F.C.’s naming rights deal with Etihad, currently the biggest in English football, is valued at £21.9 m a year.
