Video Music Awards to return to Prudential Center Image: Populous

The Video Music Awards are returning to Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey (US) for the first time since 2019, as the home of the National Hockey League (NHL) team New Jersey Devils will be spotlighted across MTV’s global footprint of linear and digital platforms.

The ‘Arena Digest’ stated that the Video Music Awards is one of the flashiest events on the award-show calendar. They’re scheduled for August 28th, 2022.

The MTV Video Music Awards is an award show presented by the cable channel MTV to honor the best in the music video medium.

The 19,500-capacity Prudential Center is a multipurpose indoor arena in the central business district of Newark, New Jersey, United States. It has been designed by HOK Sport, with the exterior designed by Morris Adjmi Architects.

The ‘Arena Digest’ quoted Bruce Gillmer, President of Music, Music Talent, Programing and Events, Paramount and Chief Content Officer, Music, Paramount+, as stating, “We are thrilled to be back in New Jersey for this year’s VMAs live from Prudential Center. Our 2019 show in Newark was undoubtedly one of our biggest and most successful shows yet and we’re excited to bring back the incredible fan energy for one of music’s most anticipated and iconic nights.”

Said Jake Reynolds, President, Prudential Center, “We are extremely proud MTV has chosen Prudential Center to once again host its marquee showcase, the 39th Annual Video Music Awards. The Prudential Center has enjoyed our longstanding partnership with MTV which highlights our world-class venue as a must play destination for acts of all genres. We could not be more excited to host one of the entertainment industry’s most celebrated award shows and recognize the industries brightest stars, while adding to the rich history of music in New Jersey.”
