The Premier League team AFC Bournemouth shared the first images of their unbelievable £90 million home stadium revamp plans – the Vitality Stadium in Dorset, England (UK).

‘THE SUN’ stated that with by far the smallest stadium capacity in the Premier League ‘The Cherries’ plan to double the amount of seats in the Vitality Stadium.

That will take the current capacity from 11,307 to around 20,500 in the next two-and-a-half years with room to grow to over 23,000.

The AFC Bournemouth is a professional association football club based in Kings Park, Boscombe, a suburb of Bournemouth, Dorset, England (UK). The club competes in the Premier League, the top tier of English football.

The Dean Court, currently known as the Vitality Stadium for sponsorship purposes, is a football stadium in Boscombe, a suburb of Bournemouth, Dorset, England (UK) and is the home ground of the AFC Bournemouth. The stadium has a capacity to accommodate 11,307 supporters.

‘THE SUN’ further stated that the redevelopment would make it only the second smallest Premier League ground leapfrogging the Brentford F.C.’s home pitch – the 17,250-capacity Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford, West London – with 17,000.

And Bournemouth’s American billionaire Owner Bill Foley reckons that the Vitality Stadium won’t even need to close for the expansion. Instead, the renovations will require the demolition of the current temporary South Stand as well as the expansion of the existing North and East Stands.

The plan shows how more seats will be made by infilling all the four stadium corners. The expansion of the stadium, built in 1910 and remodeled in 2001, will be completed by the end of 2027.

The Bournemouth unveiled an incredible computer-generated montage on July 15th showing how it will look with the caption: ‘Together Anything is Possible’.

The snaps shared for the first time how the new South Stand will fit in with the current ground and its surroundings. It also included the proposed new fan zone in the South West corner of the ground between the new South Stand and the current Main Stand. There are also plans to modernize the facility with new perimeter fencing and relocated turnstiles, a new ticket office and additional hospitality space.

Foley was keen to redevelop the stadium as building a new stadium would have taken five or six years.

Bournemouth will build the South Stand off-site and start snapping it in place after the final game against their peer team – the Manchester City F.C. – next season. The club will be buoyed by a strong 2024-2025 seasons that saw them finish in the top half of the Premier League for the first time since the 2016-2017 campaign.

‘The Cherries’ have also received a huge cash injection of around £100 million so far from the Summer sales of Dean Huijsen (soccer center-back for the LaLiga team Real Madrid CF [Spain]), Milos Kerkez (soccer left back for the Premier League team Liverpool F.C.) and Jaidon Anthony (left winger for the Premier League club Burnley FC).

The AFC Bournemouth Manager Andoni Iraola will hope to build on this new financial support – and the improved home support after the expansion – to make a push for European football over the coming years.

The Vitality Stadium will be officially owned by a new entity called the Black Knight Stadium Limited – named after Foley’s company took over the club in 2022 with a mission to achieve European football.

They have tried and failed to buy it back several times since but Foley made the announcement of the deal at the official opening of the club’s £32m training facility in April this year.

A public exhibition is set to take place at the stadium regarding the expansion on July 21st between 15:30 and 20:00 BST.

The fans and the locals have been invited to attend a presentation from the club personnel and advisors as well as to pose their questions and concerns.

Commented Councilor Rich Herrett, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council Cabinet Member for Destination, Leisure and Commercial Operations, “The Council recognizes how valuable the AFC Bournemouth is to Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole with its continued success on the pitch and their support for our local communities. We have a positive relationship with the football club and have enjoyed, like many, their recent successes on the pitch. We look forward to working with them on their plans to invest in the area and improve the matchday experience for the fans at the Vitality Stadium via the appropriate planning and democratic processes.”
