The way is clear for one of Würzburg’s (Germany) biggest construction projects: Recently, the City Council granted the building permit for the planned multifunctional arena on Schweinfurter Straße (a major four-lane arterial road located in the Northeastern part of Würzburg).

If everything goes as per plans the stadium will open at the end of 2029.

‘Radio Gong’ stated that the arena, to be located between the railway tracks and the hotel tower, is slated to become the new home of the professional basketball team – the Fitness First Würzburg Baskets. Apart from serving as the home of the Würzburg Baskets the multipurpose arena will also hold concerts, congresses and conferences.

The Fitness First Würzburg Baskets (formerly known as the Würzburg Baskets and s.Oliver Baskets) is a German professional basketball club located in Würzburg (Germany). It plays in Basketball Bundesliga, the highest-level league of professional club basketball in Germany.

The Tectake Arena is a multipurpose indoor arena located in Würzburg, Germany. The arena opened in 1981 and has a capacity to accommodate 4,756 people. It serves as the home court of the Basketball Bundesliga team Würzburg Baskets.

‘Radio Gong’ further stated that the venue is being planned with a capacity to hold 7,000 people. Once the arena opens its doors over 100 events are being planned annually.
