1st Central lend name to Sussex Cricket home

The Sussex County Cricket Club (UK) has secured a new three-year naming rights contract with the car insurance company 1st Central at the County Ground.

‘yahoo!sport’ stated that the deal with the Sussex-based motor insurance company will take their association with the club to 10 years.

The Sussex County Cricket Club is the oldest of 18 first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales (UK). It represents the historic county of Sussex in Southeastern England. Its limited overs team is called the Sussex Sharks.

The 6,000-capacity County Cricket Ground, known for sponsorship reasons as The 1st Central County Ground, is a cricket venue in Hove, East Sussex, England (UK). The County Ground is the home of the Sussex County Cricket Club, where most Sussex home matches since 1872 have been played, although many other grounds in Sussex have been used.

‘yahoo!sport’ further stated that 1st Central, whose headquarters are in Haywards Heath, UK, will now also sponsor the back of both the Sussex D40 (Disabled cricket team) and Visually Impaired playing shirts.

The partnership extension also provides continued support for annual charitable events such as the Sussex Cricket Foundation’s DIScoverABILITY Day.

DIScoverABILITY Day is Sussex Cricket’s annual disability cricket showcase. This event gives hundreds of people involved with Sussex Cricket’s Disability Cricket program the opportunity to play on the pitch at the 1st Central County Ground.

1st Central’s continued backing comes as Sussex redevelops the South West corner of the County Ground.

The first phase of the redevelopment, with a new pub, commercial offices and 37 apartments being constructed, should be open by the time the 2023 season starts.
