SC Freiburg has been granted the permission to build a new stadium by the regional council after the development plan came into force earlier in November, according to the press release by the club. The change of the land-use plan for the area was already approved in mid-September.

With the building permit finally given, the most complex planning procedure for the city of Freiburg has come to an end. “Köster and HPP Architekten have come on board and we now have an experienced and highly professional team working on the project. The design is perfect for Freiburg and it is clear that the location chosen is the correct one”, says Martin Haag, Head of Construction at the Freiburg City Council.

The building permit being immediately enforceable, the construction work has already begun. These include the establishment of the large construction site and extensive earthwork. Following which, the next work to begin will be along the Wolfsbuck and Granada Allee.

“As the main construction company on this project, we strongly believe in ensuring that the dialogue between the various other companies involved in the project. It’s extremely crucial that we do this in order to achieve our goals to the highest standard. If we manage that, we will have achieved a perfect build in a sustainable and harmonious manner”, said Claude-Patrick Jeutter, Chairman, Koster GmbH.

Though in the midst of the permit being given and the construction work starting, the German Bundesliga football club SC Freiburg received news of an emergency application which has been filed to stop the construction of its new stadium according to media reports.

The site which is to be developed near the City of Freiburg’s Municipal Airport came under scrutiny after six local residents filed a complaint against the construction a week after the permit was granted reported the local newspaper Badische Zeitung. Klaus Doll, Court Spokesman told the newspaper that the administrative court will give a ruling on the submitted application at the earliest.
