Bundesliga club SC Freiburg has moved to their dream home – Europa-Park Stadium – which opened its doors on October 7th, 2021.

The ‘SWR’ stated that the inaugural ceremony of the plush facility took place with a test match being played as part of the inaugural event in the presence of a restricted crowd of 15,000 between the SC Freiburg and the FC St. Pauli. The match ended with a 3-0 win for the home team.

SC Freiburg is a German football club based in the City of Freiburg im Breisgau, Baden-Württemberg (Germany). It plays in the Bundesliga, having been promoted as champions from the 2. Bundesliga in 2016.

The 34,700-capacity SC-Stadion, known as the Europa-Park Stadion for sponsorship reasons, serve as the new home stadium of SC Freiburg, replacing the club’s former home, the Schwarzwald-Stadion.

The ‘SWR’ further stated that Freiburg had originally hoped to move to its new ground during the 2020-2021 seasons but this has not been possible due to COVID-19 which had set its evil eye on the project. It is located in a part of the City called Brühl, near the airport.

FC St. Pauli is a German professional football club based in the St. Pauli district of Hamburg, which competes in the 2. Bundesliga.

The club was earlier playing at the stunning Dreisamstadion with its Black Forest views, which the club had been enjoying since 1954.
