Western Sydney Stadium update Image: Western Sydney Stadium

Western Sydney’s new purpose-built stadium will now be known as ‘Bankwest Stadium’ following a seven-year partnership for naming rights between New South Wales (NSW) Government and Perth-based Australian bank Bankwest.

The announcement was made in early December at the stadium by the NSW Minister for Sports and Minister for Western Sydney Stuart Ayres together with Bankwest Managing Director Rowan Munchenberg according to a report on ausleisure website.

“Bankwest has embraced the opportunity to be part of booming Western Sydney and the company’s commitment to the naming rights of the venue is a huge vote of confidence in both the future of the Stadium and the region,” said Minister Ayres. “This deal is important for the Stadium to be financially self-sustaining, making sure there is no burden to taxpayers to cover ongoing running costs.

“The Bankwest Stadium partnership sends a clear message to the people of Western Sydney that we’ll continue to invest in products and services that meet their needs,” said Munchenberg. “Our vision is to deliver amazing customer experiences that matter, which is strongly aligned to the vision of this stadium ‘to empower world-class fan experiences’.

The Stadium is set to complete this year with an impressive list of events and activities in store for the opening year like 14 regular-season National Rugby League games, three home Super rugby games, Downer Rugby League World Cup 9s in October and several other events. The venue will host a variety of community events, meetings, functions and other special events as well.

The fully covered 30,000 seat stadium will have 3,000 premium seats and 54 suites with full Wi-Fi coverage throughout the venue and provide improved game-day experience and bring major benefits to the Western Sydney economy.

The Stadium is owned by Venues NSW on behalf of the NSW Government and operated by VenuesLive.
