The De Nieuwe Ploeg consortium was selected as the construction team partner for the further development of the new Feyenoord stadium in Rotterdam, Dutch website Architectenweb reported.

The report said De Nieuwe Ploeg will be joining the design team, which is working on the final design for the new stadium.

This design team also includes OMA (architect), Royal Haskoning DHV (constructor / consultant), IGG (cost price expert) and a number of other consultancy firms.

The contract for the redevelopment of the Feyenoord stadium is expected to be finalized by mid-2020. It is anticipated that construction will start in the spring of 2021.

The stadium will open in June 2024 according to the latest schedule. From the season 2024-2025 Feyenoord can then use it. The new stadium is part of the Feyenoord City area development in Rotterdam South. This also includes other sports complexes, in addition to schools, shops, homes and offices.

De Nieuwe Ploeg was previously involved in the development and construction of many stadiums in the Netherlands, Germany, South Africa, and other parts of the world.
