Austin FC embraces VR technology to push ticket sales

Austin FCMajor League Soccer (MLS) expansion franchise – has entered into a multiyear partnership with US mobile ticketing platform SeatGeek to push ticket sales at their new US$200 million stadium ahead of their inaugural season in 2021. It is going to become the first major league team in Texas capital Austin.

The Texas-based soccer franchise has embraced virtual reality (VR) technology through which fans can totally dive into and get a 360-degree virtual stadium tour and decide their ticketing options.

Using the SeatGeek app, supporters can take a thorough look into the stadium and its ticketless technology will give a seamless experience while buying, selling and transferring tickets.

Austin FC President Andy Loughnane said, “Our leadership conducted a thorough process to ultimately identify the best partner for this critical aspect of our fan experience infrastructure. SeatGeek’s advancements and commitments to create the most fan-friendly mobile ticketing experience across the sports and entertainment industry was the driving factor in our decision process. SeatGeek is best-positioned to fulfill the purchase and sharing capabilities that the modern ticket buyer demands, and Austin FC is excited to begin working alongside SeatGeek to harness their successful ticketing advancements and apply to a project that serves a region which takes great pride in innovation.”

SeatGeek is associated with 35 percent of English soccer’s top-ranking clubs and Austin FC is the seventh MLS outfit to partner with the mobile-focused ticketing platform. The ticketing platform boasts of partnerships with the likes of National Football League’s (NFL’s) Dallas Cowboys and the National Basketball Association’s (NBA’s) New Orleans Pelicans.

Texan capital Austin residents are huge soccer fans and has the highest TV ratings in the US for the 2019 Women’s World Cup.
