US NASCAR Bristol Motor Speedway will host Dirt Nationals Image: Bristol Motor Speedway

The Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee (US) will stage the inaugural Bristol Dirt Nationals from March 15th-20th, 2021. The event will be a curtain-raiser to the track’s National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) weekend on dirt to be held from March 27th to 28th when the cream of the crop NASCAR drivers will arrive to take on the challenge of the dirt-transformed Bristol Motor Speedway.

The Bristol Dirt Nationals will provide fans with a sneak peek of what’s to come during the much-anticipated Food City Dirt Race weekend on March 27th and March 28th.

Bristol Motor Speedway, formerly known as the Bristol International Raceway and Bristol Raceway, is a NASCAR short track venue located in Bristol, Tennessee. Constructed in 1960, it held its first NASCAR race on July 30th, 1961, and enjoys capacity of 162,000.

The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) is an American auto racing sanctioning and operating company that is best known for stock car racing.

The Super Late Models will headline the Bristol Dirt Nationals. The track plans to announce other grassroots dirt classes soon.

The Super Late Models are the premier divisions of asphalt short track racing in the United States and Canada. They typically feature 600+ horse power engines. The term is broadly used in car racing.

“We are looking forward to having the Super Late Models and many other popular dirt classes back at Bristol Motor Speedway for the Bristol Dirt Nationals as we kick off several weeks of dirt racing Bristol style in 2021,” stated Jerry Caldwell, the track’s Executive Vice-President-cum-General Manager.

Added an enthusiastic Caldwell, “Having the opportunity to showcase some amazing dirt track racing during our 60th anniversary really is very special, given the overall roots of racing and the history that dirt has here at The Last Great Colosseum (another name for Bristol Motor Speedway). It’s important to have some racing on the fresh dirt track to seed it properly before NASCAR arrives the following week, and we also wanted to give some of our local dirt track racers the opportunity to enjoy the Bristol dirt experience as well.”

The Bristol Dirt Nationals will be streamed on raceXR.com and the raceXR apps under the monthly subscription option.

During the 2021 season, the landmark 60th anniversary of the Bristol Motor Speedway, track officials are starting their milestone celebration with a nod to the early days of racing by transforming the ‘World’s Fastest Half-Mile’ into a pristine dirt racing facility. It will be the third time BMS has converted its revered high-banks to a dirt surface. In 2000 and 2001, the track hosted World of Outlaws and Super Late Model sell-out events.

The body sanctions a national tour of high power to weight, custom fabricated sprint cars called the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series. The race cars feature large adjustable wings on the top and large rear tires that transfer their power to the dirt tracks they race on. The series travels primarily the United States, but has sanctioned races in Canada, Mexico and Australia. The title sponsor is NOS Energy Drink.

The Bristol Dirt Nationals will be promoted and produced by X.CELERATED of Silver Bay, Minnesota (US) – an innovative company that specializes in streaming live motorsports events. The company recently worked with the Bristol Motor Speedway sister track Las Vegas Motor Speedway on its ‘Duel in the Desert’ event.

Exulted Mike Van Genderen, Promoter and Track Prep Architect who will lead the event production of the Bristol Dirt Nationals for the X.CELERATED team, “We are thrilled with the opportunity to produce the Bristol Dirt Nationals at the legendary Bristol Motor Speedway. We view this event as history-making as it could be an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for many of our grassroots racers to experience dirt track racing at such a tradition-rich racetrack as Bristol.”

The Bristol Motor Speedway is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2021 and has many exciting things up its sleeves the year to reflect on the great moments that have made the multiuse sports and entertainment destination one of the very best for creating ‘wow’ moments and cherished memories for fans. Home to epic NASCAR races and other major motorsports events, as well as National Football League (NFL) and college football games, a wide variety of music concerts and other captivating events, Bristol Motor Speedway has hogged the limelight on many occasions throughout the past six decades.
