GBAC STAR™ label for Camping World Stadium

The Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida (US) has earned its GBAC STAR™ Facility Accreditation tag. An announcement to this end was made by the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC), a division of the International Sanitary Supply Association (ISSA), the worldwide cleaning industry association.

The Camping World Stadium has earned the above tag following a comprehensive 20-element program. This certification serves as the gold standard for venues and the program is designed to help facilities establish and maintain detailed best practices, protocols and procedures on cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention associated with infectious agents like COVID-19 – the fatal respiratory disease which has laid siege to the world.

Camping World Stadium is a stadium in Orlando, Florida, located in the West Lakes neighborhood of Downtown Orlando, West of the new sports and entertainment facilities including the Amway Center, the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, and Exploria Stadium.

Stated Patricia Olinger, Executive Director, Global Biorisk Advisory Council, “GBAC STAR is the gold standard of safe facilities, providing third-party validation that ensures facilities implements strict protocols for biorisk situations. Accreditation empowers facility owners and managers to assure workers, customers and key stakeholders that they have proven systems in place to deliver clean and healthy environments that are safe for business.”

Stated Owens Realty Services President and CEO Robert Owens, “As the facility maintenance and environmental services provider for the City of Orlando and Orlando Venues, Owens Realty Services supported their team’s ability to navigate the global pandemic and develop an effective Emergency Response and Prevention Plan.”

The head honcho added, “Owens’ team of environmental service specialists and industrial hygienists continue to monitor Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines to refine our cleaning and disinfecting scope and ensure the safest and healthiest environment possible.”

Florida Citrus Sports CEO Steve Hogan maintained, “We’re proud of the work that the City of Orlando and the Camping World Stadium management team have put in to safely stage events by the end of this unprecedented year. This certification represents a significant benchmark for cleanliness in venues, and receiving it is an important step toward providing the safest possible environment for our event participants and attendees.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is a national public health institute in the United States. It is a United States Federal agency, under the Department of Health and Human Services, and is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia (US).

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is a large regulatory agency of the United States Department of Labor that originally had Federal visitorial powers to inspect and examine workplaces.

In order to achieve GBAC STAR™ accreditation, Camping World Stadium completed a rigorous performance-based program with specific guidance criteria that allows the arena to:

Establish and maintain a cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention program to control and/or minimize risk associated with infectious agents such as SARSCoV-2 (responsible for COVID-19 disease) for employees, customers, the community, and the environment;
Provide assurance and establish confidence that proper cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention work practices are in place and implemented;
Establish a framework for communication and raising awareness of best practices as they relate to cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention; and
Sanitization protocols will be an ongoing standard of practice during bowl games and other live events with or without guests physically present, as well as on days when no events are scheduled.
