Though a new lockdown law is in promulgation in Germany (overnight curfew can be clamped by the Federal Government if coronavirus infection rises) right now as the European country has been hard hit by COVID-19, nevertheless, if the pandemic control measures allow fans to return to the venues’ fold, the Bundesliga team FC Bayern will switch to digital tickets at their home ground – Allianz Arena – from the 2021-2022 seasons. The mobile ticket and print@home formats, which have been known for years, will remain in place, and it is up to the stadium visitors to choose.

‘FC Bayern Munchen’ quoted FC Bayern Deputy Chairman Jan-Christian Dreesen as stating, “As sustainability, conservation of resources and reduction of CO2 emissions are central issues at FC Bayern and in ticketing, we have decided not to offer printed tickets such as the annual chip card or paper tickets for any future games in the Allianz Arena. As well as reducing the production of plastic and paper tickets, communication by e-mail eliminates around 350,000 printed letters that were previously sent by post. That is a valuable contribution to climate protection and resource conservation.”

Bayern Munich or FC Bayern is a German professional sports club based in Munich, Bavaria (Germany). It is best known for its professional football team which plays in the Bundesliga, the top tier of the German football league system.

Allianz Arena is a football stadium in Munich, Bavaria, Germany with a 70,000 seating capacity for international matches and 75,000 for domestic matches. Widely known for its exterior of inflated ETFE plastic panels, it is the first stadium in the world with a full color changing exterior. It serves as the home facility of Bayern Munich.

Digital edge

  • All tickets and parking permits will be available in the digital ticket center immediately after an individual books the ticket;
  • The digital ticket center can be reached online at any time;
  • Elimination of shipping costs and shipping losses;
  • Loss of tickets is nigh impossible and they can be recalled at any time in the digital ticket center;
  • Saving resources and reducing CO2 emissions;
  • Tickets can be conveniently forwarded to friends and acquaintances in the digital ticket center at any time by email with a password-protected area on fcbayern.com; and
  • Tickets that have already been forwarded and cannot be used can also be given to other people quickly and easily at short notice – for example on the matchday.

‘FC Bayern Munchen’ stated that great attention has been paid to the user-friendly operation of the forwarding and downloads functions.
