With the COVID-19 situation making significant improvement, the Dutch Government has given the nod for full-capacity events to return in the Netherlands from June 30th, 2021.

‘festicket’ stated that no face coverings or social distancing rules will need to be adhered to once inside venues, however, all attendees will need to provide either proof of vaccination or a negative coronavirus test result to get ingress to venues.

The initial phase will only be rolled out to single-day events, with multiday events set to follow from July 29th given there are no rise in COVID-19 infections from the initial reopening. All events will need to be ticketed.

‘festicket’ further stated that the above decision comes after encouraging results from the Dutch Government’s Fieldlab Evenementen’s ‘Back to Live’ – the world’s biggest pilot event program – which showed that attending a live event puts you at no greater risk to COVID-19 than being at home, when strict hygiene and testing protocols are applied.

The Dutch Minister for Economic Affairs, Mona Keijzer, enthused, “It is great news that events such as festivals and concerts will soon be possible again thanks to the hard work of Fieldlab Evenementen. We now use the insights gained by the Fieldlab organization to adjust the roadmap. If you have been vaccinated, tested negative or have recovered from COVID-19, you can go to a festival or concert as you could before.”

The above move comes as a welcome relief to Dutch promoters, who have been waiting eagerly on news on whether they will be able to go ahead with their events this summer. Dekmantel (an electronic music festival in Amsterdam) has already confirmed it will be happening in August, with many others set to follow suit.
