The U.S. Open will be a full house affair throughout its two-week duration in 2021 to be held from August 30th to September 12th, the United States Tennis Association (USTA) announced on June 17th, making it the first Grand Slam to be played at 100 percent capacity amid the COVID-19 pandemic – the Delta variant of which is again causing serious problems in several parts of the globe.

The tennis showpiece will be held at the 14,000-capacity USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, a stadium complex within Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens, New York City (US).

‘Reuters’ stated that the tournament was held sans spectators in 2020 due to the coronavirus curse which bruised the United States taking a very huge toll on lives. It will be the first Grand Slam to have full attendance since the Australian Open last year.

The United States Open Tennis Championships is a hard court tennis tournament. The tournament is the modern version of one of the oldest tennis championships in the world, the U.S. National Championship, for which men’s singles and men’s doubles were first played in August 1881.

New York-headquartered the United States Tennis Association (USTA) is the national governing body for tennis in the United States. A not-for-profit organization with more than 700,000 members, it invests 100 percent of its proceeds to promote and develop the growth of tennis, from the grassroots to the professional levels.

‘Reuters’ quoted USTA Chief Executive Mike Dowse as stating, “We are extremely excited to be able to welcome our incredible fans back to the U.S. Open this year. While we were proud that we were able to hold the event in 2020, we missed having our fans on-site, because we know that they are a large part of what makes the U.S. Open experience unlike any other. Our sport surged in the toughest of times, and this year’s U.S. Open promises to be an unforgettable celebration of the game, those who play it, and those who revel in it.”

Organizers of the Cincinnati Masters, the tune-up tournament for the Grand Slam, announced last month that they also plan to operate the August tournament in the City (Cincinnati) at full capacity.

The Cincinnati Masters is an annual outdoor hard court tennis event held in Mason near Cincinnati, Ohio (US). This year it is being held from August 14th to August 22nd.

The USTA informed that tickets for the August 30th-September 12th Grand Slam are set to go on sale from July 13th.

This year’s Wimbledon men’s and women’s singles finals will also be played with capacity crowds in attendance on Centre Court (UK).

The Championships, Wimbledon, commonly known simply as Wimbledon or The Championships, is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and is widely regarded as the most prestigious.

This year Wimbledon will be starting from June 28th and will end on July 11th. It will be held at the 14,979-capacity All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, also known as the All England Club, based at Church Road, Wimbledon, London (UK). It is a private members’ club. It is best known as the venue for the Wimbledon Championships, the only Grand Slam tennis event still held on grass.
