Jacksonville Jaguars to return to Wembley Image: Jacksonville Jaguars

The National Football League (NFL) (US) team Jacksonville Jaguars will face their peer team Denver Broncos in Week 8 of the 2022 NFL season, the NFL announced on May 4th. The matchup will be played at London’s (UK) historic Wembley Stadium on October 30th at 9:30 am ET.

The ‘Jacksonville Jaguars’ stated that the Jaguars, who are 4-4 in London, will appear in their ninth game in the NFL’s International Series. QB Trevor Lawrence (American football quarterback) made his international debut last year, securing the team’s first victory of the season and the first game-winning drive of his career against the Miami Dolphins when K Matthew Wright (American football placekicker) connected on a game-winning 53-yard field goal. Lawrence became the first rookie quarterback to win a game in London while the previous rookies were 0-5.

The National Football League (NFL) is a professional American football league that consists of 32 teams, divided equally between the American Football Conference and the National Football Conference.

The NFL International Series is a series of American football games of the National Football League regular season that are played outside the United States.

The 90,000-capacity Wembley Stadium is a football stadium in Wembley, London (UK). It opened in 2007 on the site of the original Wembley Stadium, which was demolished from 2002 to 2003. The stadium hosts major football matches including home matches of the England national football team, and the FA Cup Final.

The ‘Jacksonville Jaguars’ further stated that the Jaguars, who played at the 62,850-capacity Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last season, will return to Wembley Stadium for the first time since 2019, having played there for seven straight seasons (2013-2019). They’ll face off against newly acquired Broncos QB Russell Wilson, a Super Bowl champion and nine-time Pro Bowler. Wilson’s only previous appearance in London was in 2018. The game marks the Broncos second time playing in London in franchise history.

The Jaguars’ footprint in London continues to grow, with the team developing its own dedicated UK fan base, Union Jax, and making significant investments in community programs and charitable initiatives. In 2015, the Jaguars launched JagTag, a simplified version of touch American football, tailored to a UK audience, to help encourage more people to play and understand the game. The JagTag program is already involved with more than 200 schools throughout the United Kingdom, with 40 percent of participants being female.

More information about tickets to the game will be available following the official NFL schedule release on May 12th at 8 pm.
