The League One team Plymouth Argyle F.C.’s renovation work of the higher car park area of their residence – Home Park in Plymouth, England (UK) – has been completed.

‘Plymouth Argyle FC’ stated that work began in the Summer to level and resurface the terrain adjacent to the Mayflower Grandstand in order to provide nearly double the amount of parking spaces for players, staff and match-day officials, as well as reducing pressure on the Park and Ride car park used for supporters.

The Plymouth Argyle Football Club is a professional football club based in the City of Plymouth, Devon, England (UK). As of the 2022-2023 seasons, the team is competing in League One, the third tier of English football. They have played at Home Park, known as the ‘Theatre of Greens’, since 1901.

The 16,388-capacity Home Park is a football stadium in Plymouth, England (UK). The ground has been the home of Football League One club Plymouth Argyle F.C. since 1901. After undergoing considerable development in the 1920s and 1930s, the ground suffered heavy damage during World War II.

‘Plymouth Argyle FC’ further stated that in addition, the works saw the installation of 10 electric vehicle charging points and significant improvement to the look and feel of the entire approach to the stadium from the Central Park direction – with club branding installed around the perimeter of the Home Park.

Exulted Christian Kent, Head of Venue at Home Park, “We are delighted to have completed the latest phase of improvements to the environment around the stadium. It could not have come at a more crucial time, either, with attendances as their highest levels for decades and the stadium sold out for most of the season. Our thanks must go to the contractors Lionstead and Ryearch, whose support with this project has been vital.”

Lionstead provided project management, quantity surveying and contract administration services to Argyle for the duration of the project, including liaison with the Plymouth City Council and other stakeholders to ensure that the work was completed to schedule. Meanwhile, Ryearch delivered the works as the Principal Contractor.

Enthused Dave Gribble, Director, Lionstead, “We are delighted to have reached this significant milestone of the completion of the new car park and sustainable transport infrastructure project for Argyle. We have a long history of working with the club, supporting it with many projects centered on the continued improvement of the stadium facilities for players, fans and guests at the Home Park. The car park project completes the public realm works associated with the delivery of the Mayflower Grandstand reconstruction and provides the much-needed support facilities for matchdays and the many other events held at the club.”

Put in Terry Pithick of Ryearch, “With Ryearch’s ties to Plymouth, we were delighted to work with its historic football club to provide much-needed car parking and civil infrastructure works. It is great to be part of the improvements at the Home Park for both the players, fans and guests and to be an integral part of the continuing improvements of the stadium and its environs. Nearly all the workers who carried out the scheme are directly employed by Ryearch and have a Plymouth postcode, so the investment has been kept within the local economy. We look forward to the opportunity of continuing with this journey in the future, especially as many Ryearch employees are season ticket holders.”
