Founded in 1855 as the Farmers’ High School of Pennsylvania, the Penn State became the State’s only land-grant university in 1863. Its instructional mission includes undergraduate, graduate, professional, and continuing education offered through resident instruction and online delivery. Its primary campus is in the University Park, which lies within the State College and College Township in Pennsylvania.

The Nittany Lion is the Eastern mountain lion mascot of the athletic teams of the Pennsylvania State University (US): The Penn State Nittany Lions. Created in 1907, the ‘Nittany’ forename refers to the local Mount Nittany which overlooks the university.

The 106,572-capacity Beaver Stadium is an outdoor college football stadium on the campus of the Pennsylvania State University in the Penn State University Park.
