The Premier League club Aston Villa F.C. (UK) can confirm the club’s updated plans for the redevelopment of the North Stand and its immediate vicinity.

‘Aston Villa FC’ stated that a series of amendments have been submitted as part of a revised planning application to the Birmingham City Council which include minor changes to the North Stand itself while there are also new plans for the existing Academy building.

The Aston Villa Football Club, commonly referred to as Villa, is a professional football club based in Aston, Birmingham, England (UK). The club competes in the Premier League, the top tier of the English football league system. Founded in 1874, they have played at their home ground – the Villa Park – since 1897.

The Villa Park is a football stadium in Aston, Birmingham (UK), with a seating capacity of 42,657. It has been the home of the Premier League side Aston Villa since 1897.

‘Aston Villa FC’ further stated that the club is also continuing to explore exciting and dynamic concepts across the stadium itself in addition to the other functional buildings and spaces on the footprint of the Villa Park, all with user experience, wider community functionality and positive impact on the local area in mind.

The redevelopment will increase Villa Park’s capacity to over 50,000 and modernize the stadium to create a world-class entertainment venue that can host major international sports tournaments and other events.

The Villa Park was recently selected as a venue in the United Kingdom and Ireland’s bid to host the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) EURO 2028 Championship with a decision on who will secure the tournament to be announced in October. The outcome of this revised and new application is expected during the Autumn.

Nyon (Switzerland)-based the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) is one of six continental bodies of governance in association football. It governs football, futsal and beach football in Europe and the transcontinental countries of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia, and Kazakhstan, as well as some Asian countries such as Israel, Cyprus and Armenia. The UEFA consists of 55 national association members. Because of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the FIFA and UEFA suspended all Russian national teams and clubs from any FIFA and UEFA competitions.

The 2028 UEFA European Football Championship, commonly referred to as UEFA EURO 2028 or simply EURO 2028, will be the 18th UEFA European Championship, the quadrennial international football championship organized by UEFA for the men’s national teams of its member-associations.

A fundamental part of the redevelopment plans involves the successful implementation of a modern, integrated transport strategy which substantially improves how our fans and visitors arrive and depart Villa Park.

The club are working closely with the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA), the West Midlands Rail Executive and the Birmingham City Council to finalize a plan for the station. The WMCA are commissioning a technical design study to support the process of unlocking funding to implement the proposed upgrades.
