CAF workshop pivot spiffy African stadia

The 2024 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Stadium Inspector’s Workshop in Rabat, Morocco, which took place from March 26^th-April 2^nd, 2024, highlighted the importance of world-class facilities for the growth of African football.

‘cafonline.com’ stated that the workshop was held at the Mohammed VI Sports Complex in Salé, Rabat (Morocco) and 35 inspectors from across the continent took part.

6th of October City (Egypt)-based the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is the administrative and controlling body for association football, beach soccer and futsal in Africa. It was established on February 8^th, 1957 at the Grand Hotel in Khartoum, Sudan, by the national football associations of: Algeria, Egypt, Ethiopia, Nigeria, and South Africa.

The Mohammed VI Football Academy is a football academy located in Salé, Morocco. It was inaugurated by King Mohammed VI in 2009 to reshape the national sport in Morocco. The purpose of the academy is to help football evolve in Morocco and help football players toward reaching their goal of playing in a professional league.

The Mohammed VI Football Academy in Salé, Morocco, can accommodate 60-80 students between the ages of 12 and 18. The academy has a total floor area of 9,000 square meters and a total site area of 2,500,000 square meters.

The workshop focused on crucial areas including regulatory frameworks, pitch quality, safety, and media facilities. The training of stadium inspectors is a pivotal step towards ensuring that the stadiums meet the required standards for hosting the CAF events.

Through practical activities and assessments, these inspectors are being equipped with the necessary skills to uphold the integrity of the African football venues. These initiatives underscore the CAF’s commitment to enhancing the football experience in Africa, paving the way for the continent’s continued success on the global stage.

The investment in football infrastructure in Africa, building and maintenance of stadiums in the 54 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Member Associations has been one of the key strategic focus areas of the CAF leadership.

‘cafonline.com’ further stated that African football is enjoying unprecedented global interest thanks to the world-class TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations held in Côte d’Ivoire (also known as Ivory Coast), a country in West Africa.

The workshop was opened by the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF) President and the CAF Executive Committee Member, Mr Fouzi Lekjaa, who underscored the importance of investing in world-class infrastructure and maintaining the facilities.

The workshop focused on a number of areas including: The CAF stadiums regulatory framework, stadium inspection guidelines, natural and artificial pitches, floodlighting assessment, safety and security in stadiums, and media and TV facilities.

Rabat (Morocco)-based the Royal Moroccan Football Federation is the governing body of football in Morocco. It was established in the year 1956. It became a member of the FIFA in 1960, and in the same year it also became a member of the CAF.

The CAF Stadium Inspectors Workshop was designed to train the stadium inspectors who will be appointed by the CAF to guide the African clubs and the Member-Associations in ensuring that their stadiums are in line with the required standards of hosting the CAF events as per the CAF Stadium Regulations (edition 2022).

In 2022, the CAF launched its Club Licensing Online Platform (CLOP), a digital tool designed to help its Member-Associations digitize their administration and manage the stadium inspection processes for continental and domestic competitions.

The candidates were also trained in using the CLOP Stadium Module, which will be a guiding tool in their respective stadium inspections.
