VITEC

Paris (France)-based VITEC is a market-leading provider of IPTV, Video Streaming and Digital Signage Solutions that help organizations harness the power of video to engage, empower and evolve. VITEC is a pioneer in the design and manufacture of hardware and software for video encoding, decoding, transcoding, archiving, and streaming over IP. Eurosport

France-based Eurosport is a group of pay television networks in Europe and parts of Asia.

Myriam Calaber stated that VITEC designs, develops and manufactures the products “that we propose to our customers. We manufacture encoders and decoders, gateways and transcoders –and we also do IPTV and digital signage. We serve customers in different sectors – the corporate, the Government and we are very much involved with the sport venue industry and provide the best of video solutions to boost the fan experience and help venues in bringing home the bacon.”

She informed that VITEC played a key role during Paris 2024 as its IP video played an increasingly significant role in supporting the Games by enabling advanced broadcasting capabilities.

Calaber explained that VITEC’s IP video helped broadcast information and live feeds to screens throughout the facilities thus keeping the athletes, the staff and the spectators informed while facilitating live streaming coverage to smartphones, tablets, computers, and televisions in realtime.

VITEC-Eurosport Collaboration

VITEC and Eurosport got along like a house on fire – Eurosport had its eyes on the 2020 Tokyo Olympics “and was looking for a remote commentary system that had to be cost-effective as well. This is how VITEC and Eurosport met. VITEC and Eurosport collaborated and despite logistic issues, the worst phase during the pandemic, the solution was delivered on time and on budget.”

Sum-up

Myriam Calaber summed up by stating that VITEC and Eurosport worked in perfect sync for both Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 and VITEC’s video low latency contribution solution combined with Eurosport’s well-established production capabilities ensured seamless live remote commentary despite the logistical challenges. This also helps in revenue generation.

VITEC’s live, low latency solution for broadcasters was deployed during the isolation of COVID-safe security measures delivering excellent results for Eurosport during the lockdown across Europe. It has been used at major events, including the world’s premier cycling race, the Tour de France, the French and US Open tennis tournaments and is now used in their day-to-day operations.
