FC Bayern teeth to Sportpark Unterhaching

The Bundesliga giants FC Bayern Munich (Germany) has acquired Sportpark Unterhaching which has been owned by the Allianz Arena Stadion GmbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of FC Bayern München AG, from January 1^st, 2026.

‘fcbayern.com’ stated that following the necessary infrastructure adjustments Sportpark Unterhaching will be home to all FC Bayern Women’s teams and matches and training sessions will be held there. From the 2026-2027 season onwards, FC Bayern Women’s home matches in the Champions League will be played there. SpVgg Unterhaching’s first team will also continue to play their home games at the Sportpark stadium, as before.

FC Bayern Munich is a German professional sports club based in Munich, Bavaria. They are most known for their Men’s professional football team who play in the Bundesliga, the top tier of the German football league system. Bayern are the most successful club in German football and are among the world’s most decorated having won a record 34 national titles including 11 consecutive titles from 2013 to 2023 and a record 20 national cups alongside numerous European titles.

The Allianz Arena is a football stadium in Munich, Germany, with a 70,000 seating capacity for international matches and 75,000 for domestic matches. Widely known for its exterior of inflated ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) plastic panels it is the first stadium in the world with a full color changing exterior. It serves as the residence of the FC Bayern Munich.

The Sportpark Unterhaching, officially known as the Uhlsport Park, is the home of football club of FC Bayern Munich (Women). It is used almost exclusively for first-team games and occasionally for reserve-team games. It has a capacity to accommodate 15,053 spectators.

Remarked Jan-Christian Dreesen, FC Bayern head honcho, “The acquisition of Sportpark Unterhaching is another milestone in the overall development of our FC Bayern Women. The new sporting home of our women’s team will meet the Union of European Football Association (UEFA) requirements and also satisfy spectator demand in the future. In the medium term, Sportpark Unterhaching is to become the new home for the whole of FC Bayern Women’s football.”

Explained Wolfgang Panzer, Mayor of Unterhaching, “Unterhaching is known for its tradition as a sporting community. Our teams participate in national and international competitions and we’ve produced medal winners and Olympic champions. Of course, sporting history has also been made at the Unterhaching stadium. I’m delighted that FC Bayern will now continue to script these success stories with its Women’s teams. I know the whole of Unterhaching (the second-largest Municipality in the Munich district of Bavaria, Germany) – especially grassroots sport – will benefit from these developments and this momentum. That’s another reason why we in the Municipal Council unanimously voted to entrust our Sportpark to FC Bayern. It’s in good hands there!”

Maintained Manfred Schwabl, President of SpVgg Unterhaching, “Over the past weeks and months we’ve had intensive discussions about how we want to shape our future at the Sportpark. Ultimately, in consultation with the Municipality of Unterhaching and FC Bayern we came to the conclusion that the best solution for SpVgg Unterhaching is to enter into a partnership with FC Bayern as the future owner of the stadium. This means we’ll retain our sporting home at the stadium in the Sportpark and infrastructure measures will ensure it is fit for the future with the ever-growing demands of professional football. I’d like to express my sincere thanks to FC Bayern, led by Jan-Christian Dreesen, for a constructive solution. We’ve found a solution that is beneficial to all parties and marks another milestone in our partnership.”

‘fcbayern.com’ further stated that the stadium at Sportpark Unterhaching has a capacity to hold 15,000 spectators of which more than 8,000 are seated. The entire Sportpark complex covers around 45,000 square meters and, alongside the stadium, includes three training pitches and a club house including a restaurant and beer garden. In addition, there are two further plots of land to the North of the Sportpark with potential for further development.

It governs football, futsal and beach football in Europe and the transcontinental countries of Russia (suspended), Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Kazakhstan, as well as the West Asian countries of Cyprus, Armenia and Israel. The UEFA consists of 55 national association members. After the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine the FIFA and the UEFA suspended all Russian national teams and clubs from any FIFA and UEFA competitions.
