Populous acquires OJB Landscape Image: Populous

Populous has agreed a deal to acquire OJB Landscape Architecture, the award-winning leader in landscape architecture and urban design.

Engineering.com said the strategic acquisition brings together two of the most respected design practices globally.

The deal unites Populous’ expertise in creating iconic, people-centric destinations with OJB Landscape Architecture’s award-winning portfolio of landscapes, public spaces and urban environments.

The two firms have collaborated historically on projects over the years, including most notably Baylor University’s McLane Stadium which opened in 2014 and was recognized by the American Society of Landscape Architects.

OJB will keep its studios and leadership while expanding Populous’ landscape and urban design capabilities.

OJB Landscape Architecture’s most iconic work includes the Omaha RiverFront in Omaha, Nebraska, Downtown Cary Park in Cary, North Carolina, Seaport Village in San Diego, California and many more.

Populous is a global architectural and design practice with regional headquarters in Kansas City (US), London (UK) and Brisbane (Australia) specializing in sports facilities, arenas and convention centers as well as in the planning and design of major special events.

Populous’ landscape architecture and urban design portfolio includes work at Pittsburgh’s North Shore, the Minnesota Twins’ Target Field, the Miami Marlins’ LoanDepot Park and Minnesota United’s Allianz Field.

Founded in 1989, OJB Landscape Architecture has delivered some of the most celebrated landscape architecture projects worldwide, including urban parks, campuses, waterfronts and mixed-use developments.

The firm is known for design excellence, environmental sensitivity and a deep understanding of how people engage with outdoor spaces.

With the acquisition, Populous grows to more than 950 employees in the Americas and more than 1,600 worldwide.

Populous has acquired OJB Landscape Architecture to significantly enhance its capabilities in landscape architecture, urban design and the public realm — unlocking new opportunities across sport, entertainment, civic and mixed-use developments.

Along with its recent launch of its Real Estate Strategy service line, Populous is dedicated to the creation of multi-faceted destinations that enhance cities and communities.
