Founded on February 4th, 1899, Werder are best known for their professional association football team who compete in the Bundesliga, the first tier of the German football league system.

‘sky sport’ further stated that initially there was no information on the cause behind the damage. The Werder Bremen has since issued a statement on its Website which reads, “An incident occurred on the afternoon of July 8th while the modernization of the Weserstadion was on. The renovation work going on in the VIP space of the Weserstadion required the removal of window panes. During this exercise a load-bearing column got damaged accidentally. This resulted in a partial collapse of the upper tier of Block 53. No one has been injured. There is no risk of collapse for the remaining sections of the stands.”
