The Sports Performance Hub (SPH), the mixed-use development planned for Homestead, Florida (US) has secured a strategic investment from the Bahrain-based ME&F Holdings led by the global sports executive Faris Al-Kooheji.

Phase 1 Investment

‘54’ stated that the investment marks the completion of Sports Performance Hub’s (SPH’s) Phase 1 investment round thus advancing planning and development of one of the most ambitious integrated sports and education developments in the United States.

Sports Performance Hub

The Sports Performance Hub (SPH) is a massive, $275-$280 million privately-funded sports and education complex spanning over 90 to 100 acres in Homestead, Florida (US).

ME & F Holdings W.L.L is a Bahrain-based family investment office for the Al-Kooheji Electricals and Construction Group. Established in 1974, the Al-Kooheji Electricals and Construction Group is one of the leading contractors in the electrical, mechanical and civil engineering sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The ME & F Holdings W.L.L operates a family-only fund that invests in financial securities globally.

Man-of-many-parts

‘54’ further stated that Faris Al-Kooheji is recognized as one of Bahrain’s leading business and sports executives with a track record spanning investment, sports infrastructure, hospitality, and institutional development across the Middle East.

In addition to his private sector leadership he serves as the Secretary General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, as a Member of the Executive Board of the Olympic Council of Asia where he also serves as the Chair of the Media Committee and as a Member of the Advisory Board to the President of World Aquatics (the international governing body for water sports specifically overseeing swimming, diving and water polo).

SPH Global Credibility

His combination of executive leadership, institutional influence and international relationships brings significant strategic value and global credibility to the Sports Performance Hub as the platform advances into its next phase of development.

Single Institutional Platform

The investment further strengthens a project designed to bring together elite sport, education, live entertainment, and real estate within a single institutional platform.

Purpose-built Campus

Planned as more than a 90-acre development the SPH will integrate a multisport academy, a 10,000-seat stadium, college-preparatory education, the state-of-the-art training facilities, the specialized health services and wellness, a 150-room hotel, and the residential and commercial real estate into a purpose-built campus designed to serve the athletes, the students, the visitors, and the wider community.

Jobs’ Generation

The Sports Performance Hub is expected to generate approximately 4,300 construction jobs and more than 600 permanent positions while supporting tourism, community programming and the broader economic activity in Homestead and throughout South Florida (US).

Leadership Group

The development is supported by a distinguished founding and leadership group spanning global sport, media and investment. Collectively, the group includes the Super Bowl (the league championship final game of the National Football League [NFL]) and the National Basketball Association (NBA) champions, an Olympic gold medalist and a former Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) top-10 player alongside the experienced operators in sports management, media rights, real estate, and large-scale investments.

‘Dynamic Global Hubs’

Stated Nick Sakiewicz, Head Honcho and Co-Founder, Sports Performance Hub, “I’m proud to welcome Faris to our family of Founding Partners. South Florida has rapidly emerged as one of the most dynamic global hubs for sports, entertainment and investment and we believe Homestead is uniquely positioned to play a meaningful role in that evolution. Faris brings an extraordinary combination of international leadership, strategic vision and global relationships that will further strengthen the platform we are building.”

‘Competitive Energy’

The four-time NBA champion Manu Ginobili, Co-Founder of Sports Performance Hub, said, “I have been fortunate to be part of teams that built something lasting. Not just through talent but through teamwork, environment and culture. That is exactly what we are creating at SPH. South Florida is the right place for it. The infrastructure, the diversity and the competitive energy of the city all serve what we are trying to build. This first strategic investment is an important step and I am proud of what this project represents.”

Further announcements regarding SPH’s Phase 1 delivery timeline, the strategic partnerships and the development components are expected in the coming months.

Integrated Development Model

The SPH campus brings together youth academies, multisport training environments, academic programs, and advanced performance health services thus creating an environment where the athletes can develop physically, academically and personally within one coordinated ecosystem.

This integrated model ensures that the athletes are not only prepared for the elite competition but also equipped with the knowledge, discipline and the leadership skills required to succeed beyond the field.

Pathway Possibilities

The SPH will create multiple pathways for talent to grow and succeed within the global sports ecosystem. The athletes may pursue professional careers in sport while also gaining the academic preparation and leadership skills needed to build careers across the broader sports industry.
