The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) team Boston Legacy FC recently announced that the club will play its 2027 NWSL home matches at the 10,500-seat Centreville Bank Stadium in Pawtucket, Rhode Island (US) before moving into the White Stadium in Boston, its permanent home, in 2028.

The White Stadium will give the fans a distinctly Boston experience.

White Stadium Renovation

‘bostonlegacyfc.com’ stated that the above announcement follows the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court’s ruling clearing the legal path for the Boston Legacy FC and the City of Boston to complete the renovation of the White Stadium. The decision provides long-awaited certainty for the project and represents a tremendous victory for Boston’s young athletes, the Boston Public Schools and the future of professional women’s soccer in the city.

New York (US)-based the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) is a women’s professional soccer league and the highest level of the United States soccer league system.

The Boston Legacy FC is an American professional soccer team based in the Greater Boston area (US) that competes in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).

The 64,628-seat Gillette Stadium is a multipurpose stadium located in Foxborough, Massachusetts, United States. It serves as the residence of the NWSL team Boston Legacy FC.

Building on the Momentum

‘bostonlegacyfc.com’ further stated that with construction progressing at the White Stadium and the crews working on the site six days a week the Boston Legacy FC will build on the momentum created at the Centreville Bank Stadium where the fans have established one of the NWSL’s most exciting matchday environments.

Shaping Future

Opined Jennifer Epstein, Controlling Owner, Boston Legacy FC, “Throughout this journey we have been guided by a simple belief: Boston deserves a world-class home for professional women’s soccer and youth sports – a home that will shape the future of our club, expand opportunities for the Boston Public Schools students and serve the families and the communities for generations to come. We are deeply grateful to our fans, the partners, the City of Boston, and the Boston Public Schools for believing in this vision and helping us move it forward. With certainty now in place we are excited to continue building our club and our community together at the Centreville Bank Stadium in 2027 while keeping our eyes on what has always been the destination: Bringing the Boston Legacy FC home to the White Stadium.”

Temporary Home

The Centreville Bank Stadium will serve as the Legacy’s temporary home for the 2027 season while construction continues on the White Stadium.

Energy-Passion

During the 2026 season the Legacy fans quickly established the Centreville Bank Stadium as one of the NWSL’s most exciting matchday environments bringing energy and passion to the 10,500-seat venue.

High-energy Atmosphere

The Centreville Bank Stadium opened in 2025. The soccer-specific stadium features modern facilities and a compact lower Bowl with an arena-like configuration placing the fans unexpectedly close to the action and creating a high-energy atmosphere.

‘Home-field Advantage’

Pointed out Paul Byrne, General Manager (GM), Centreville Bank Stadium, “The Centreville Bank Stadium provides the type of intimate, energetic atmosphere that can create a true home-field advantage and we’re excited to welcome the Legacy back for another season.”

White Stadium Construction Progress

Following the Supreme Judicial Court’s ruling the project team completed a comprehensive review of the remaining construction schedule confirming that the Legacy will move into the White Stadium in 2028.

Architectural Elements

The construction is actively progressing in the grandstands with crews on site six days a week. The project is now moving up and out of the ground with major structural steel being installed and the underground utility improvements underway. Over the coming months the stadium structure will continue to take shape as the roof systems, the flooring and the additional architectural elements are completed.

Distinctly Boston Experience

When complete the White Stadium will have 10,500 permanent seats and will feature a high-quality natural grass playing surface, modern amenities and an intimate, electric atmosphere. For the Legacy matchdays the White Stadium will showcase professional women’s soccer at its highest level thus giving the fans a distinctly Boston experience and the club a permanent home unlike any other in the NWSL.

Public Asset

The stadium will remain a public asset owned by the Boston Public Schools while setting a national standard for youth athletics and professional women’s soccer.

Athletic Opportunities

The renovation will also preserve the stadium’s historic character while creating expanded athletic opportunities for the Boston students and the broader community.

All-weather Training

The Legacy will train primarily at the Boston Legacy FC Performance Center in Brockton, Massachusetts, a new 30,000-square-foot training facility featuring two full-size pitches – one heated natural grass field and one FIFA-approved artificial turf field housed within a seasonal air-supported dome for year-round, all-weather training.

Natural Grass Pitch

The facility will also include a half-field natural grass pitch. The Performance Center is one of the few purpose-built performance centers for a professional women’s sports team in the United States underscoring the Boston Legacy FC’s commitment to advancing the professional women’s game.

Two-year Memberships for Day One Members

The Day One Members will secure their seats for the White Stadium for the 2028 season through a two-year membership renewal. The membership will also renew their seats for the 2027 season at the Centreville Bank Stadium giving the Members the opportunity to lock in their place now for the club’s return to Boston and its new home at the White Stadium.

‘Community Joy’

Added Jennifer van Dijk, Team President, Boston Legacy FC, “Boston is the greatest sports city in the United States and we are incredibly grateful to have the best fans in women’s soccer, here in Boston and throughout New England. We cannot thank them enough for their continued commitment to the growth of this club – showing up across the venues, turning out in record-breaking numbers, cheering through all kinds of weather, and creating an incredible sense of community joy in the stands.”

Next Chapter

The Boston Legacy FC looks forward to welcoming the fans back to the Centreville Bank Stadium for the 2027 season – and bringing the club home to the White Stadium for the next chapter in its history in 2028.
