Major League Baseball’s Baltimore Orioles are removing 2,000 seats from the left-field upper deck at Oriole Park at Camden Yards ahead of the 2027 season to build a new social space at the ballpark.

MLB.com said the newly created space will include drink rails, standing room viewing areas, spacious gathering zones with tables and chairs, a central bar, diverse concession offerings and televisions.

Construction will begin immediately, with the new area scheduled to be ready for Opening Day 2027.

It will be open to all ticketed fans, and the area will also be rented out for private events on non-game days.

Oriole Park at Camden Yards, commonly known as Camden Yards, is a baseball stadium in Baltimore, Maryland (US). It is the ballpark of Major League Baseball’s (MLB’s) Baltimore Orioles and the first of the “retro” major league ballparks constructed during the 1990s and early 2000s.

The Baltimore Orioles are an American professional baseball team based in Baltimore (US). The Orioles compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member of the American League East Division.

Orioles president of business operations Catie Griggs said, “We’re extremely excited to begin these renovations and bring this space to life at Oriole Park.

“We’ve listened to our fans, who have expressed a desire for more social spaces that offer a vibrant atmosphere to gather, connect and cheer on the O’s together.

“We’re confident this will quickly become a popular destination inside our gates next season.”

The section that is being renovated had often been closed off in recent years so the O’s are hoping the new offering will become a popular spot for fans to enjoy games.

Camden Yards’ estimated adjusted ballpark seating capacity will be 40,234.

The Orioles have done quite a bit to upgrade the park, which opened in 1992, in recent years.

Prior to the 2026 season, a new center-field videoboard was built, an upgraded sound system was installed and other renovations took place.

Maryland Stadium Authority executive director Lindsey Parker said, “By strategically reimagining existing spaces at Oriole Park at Camden Yards we are creating new game-day experiences while expanding opportunities for year-round business and community use.

“The Maryland Stadium Authority looks forward to our continued partnership with the Baltimore Orioles on these renovation projects and ensuring this iconic ballpark continues to serve fans, the community and the State of Maryland for years to come.”

The Orioles will be announcing additional renovations to various areas of the ballpark later this year.
