Abu Dhabi unbridle COVID-19 test rules

In Abu Dhabi (capital of UAE), the negative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests related to COVID-19 for events are now valid up to 96 hours.

The ‘Abu Dhabi Government Media Office’ stated on October 30^th, 2021 that the Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee has updated the entry requirements for events and exhibitions, including those related to business, entertainment and sport, to include green status on Alhosn app and a negative PCR test result within 96 hours. Attendees must also commit to wearing face masks.

The ‘Abu Dhabi Government Media Office’ further stated that the new measures have been put into effect from October 31^st, 2021.

The validity window has effectively doubled from the previous 48 hours.

New rules

‘What’s On’ further stated that Government guidelines issued by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT – Abu Dhabi) on October 13^th, 2021 included provision for events in the capital to return to 100 percent capacity. In order to ensure the safety of all those attending, in addition to the requirement of having to show an active Alhosn Green Pass, visitors need to be able to show a negative PCR test obtained within 48 hours.

The ‘Green Pass’ system – the official portal of the UAE Government – limits access to public places to those with a ‘green’ status on their Al Hosn app.

The negative PCR test validity that is part of the entry requirement for all events and exhibitions in Abu Dhabi “including those related to business, entertainment and sport” – is now 96 hours.

This means anybody attending events in Abu Dhabi will be able to show a negative PCR test obtained within 96 hours (in addition to the Alhosn Green Pass requirement).
