The Premier League team AFC Bournemouth will introduce safe standing at their residence – the Vitality Stadium in Bournemouth, England, UK – starting with league fixture against their peer team – Manchester City F.C. – on February 24th.

‘AFC Bournemouth’ stated that following consultation with the Sports Ground Safety Authority (SGSA), the AFC Bournemouth will be introducing safe standing at the Vitality Stadium later this season. The safe standing locations will be found at the away end seating and in all the North Stand blocks (10-15) in Rows J-R.

The AFC Bournemouth is a professional association football club based in Kings Park, Boscombe, a suburb of Bournemouth, Dorset, England (UK). The club competes in the Premier League, the highest division of English club football. Formed in 1899 as Boscombe, the club adopted their current name in 1971.

The 11,379-capacity Dean Court, currently known as the Vitality Stadium for sponsorship purposes, is a football stadium in Kings Park, Boscombe, a suburb of Bournemouth, Dorset, England (UK), and the home ground of AFC Bournemouth.

London (UK)-based the Sports Grounds Safety Authority (SGSA) is a public body in the United Kingdom that advises the Government on sports ground safety. The SGSA also campaigns for safe sports grounds around the world. The SGSA was established in 1989 under the Football Spectators Act and was previously known as the Football Licensing Authority. The SGSA provides independent advice based on nearly 30 years of experience. The SGSA regulates local authorities in their oversight of safety.

‘AFC Bournemouth’ further stated that the club has been in dialog with the SGSA to introduce safe standing in order to maintain the full seating capacity at the Vitality Stadium, whilst adhering to all the safety rules. The AFC Bournemouth is working closely with the SGSA and the wider Safety Advisory Group (SAG) stakeholders to ensure a safe and successful launch in February.

A Safety Advisory Group (SAG) in the United Kingdom provides advice to the local authorities and the event organizers. The SAGs also work with the emergency services and the professional bodies to discuss health and safety issues.

The safe standing areas permit the supporters to stand for the duration of a match. Standing is not required in these areas, however, the supporters risk restricted pitch views if they sit when surrounded by the standing supporters. These areas are introduced to help keep the supporters safe while standing.

Those with questions about their season ticket seat location can contact the ticket office by email at tickets@afcb.co.uk

The disabled supporters with individual seating requirements should contact disability@afcb.co.uk with any questions regarding their seat location or relocation opportunity.
