Executive leadership appointments at Aramco Stadium Image: Aramco Stadium

The Aramco Stadium Company, a subsidiary of Aramco (Saudi Arabia), announced on April 14th its official launch and the appointment of its inaugural Board of Directors and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Fahad Al Dhubaib has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Aramco Stadium Company and Mohammed Al Thomairi has been appointed the Vice-Chairman of the Board. Abdulrahman Alqudaib, Bader Alreziza, Nader Ashoor, Jefferson Slack, and James Bisgrove have also been appointed as the Board Members.

In addition, Matthew Kittle has been named the head honcho. The Board Members and the executive leadership possess extensive experience and skills in global sports and entertainment development, the management of major facilities and events and commercial development and financial sustainability.

‘aramco stadium’ stated that the appointments mark a key milestone in activating the company and delivering one of the Kingdom’s most important sports and entertainment development projects aligning with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and contributing to its hosting of the 2034 FIFA World Cup™.

The Aramco Stadium is an under-construction multipurpose stadium located in the North of Khobar, Saudi Arabia. It is set to be a venue for the 2034 FIFA World Cup™ and has a proposed capacity of 47,000 people where it will host fixtures in the Group Stage, Round of 32 and Round of 16. It will also be used for the 2027 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup.

The 2034 FIFA World Cup™ will be the 25th FIFA World Cup™, a quadrennial international football tournament contested by the Men’s national teams of the member associations of FIFA. In December 2024 Saudi Arabia was formally confirmed as the host nation by FIFA following an uncontested bidding process. It will be the third tournament hosted in Asia after South Korea and Japan in 2002 and Qatar in 2022. Saudi Arabia will be the second host nation from the Arabian Peninsula in the space of 12 years. It will also be the first time the tournament is hosted by a single nation since 2022 and the first with 48 teams to be held in a single nation.

Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)-based the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) is the governing body of association football, beach soccer and futsal in most countries and territories in Asia. The AFC was formed in 1954. It has 47 members.

The 2027 AFC Asian Cup will be the 19th edition of the AFC Asian Cup, the quadrennial international Men’s football championship of Asia organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The tournament will involve 24 national teams after the expansion in 2019. It will be held in Saudi Arabia from January 7th-February 5th, 2027.

The Saudi Vision 2030 is a Government initiative launched on April 25th, 2016 by the Saudi Government and the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to diversify Saudi Arabia’s economy, society and culture.

‘aramco stadium’ further stated that located in Al-Khobar, the Aramco Stadium is set to open this year with a capacity of 47,000 seats and it will serve as the home ground for the Al-Qadsiah Football Club. The stadium is part of an integrated complex spanning 800,000 square meters designed to welcome the local residents and the visitors from around the world throughout the year. The stadium is also intended to host the international competitions including the AFC Asian Cup 2027 and the FIFA World Cup 2034™ as well as the other entertainment events further strengthening its role in the evolving sports and entertainment landscape of the Kingdom.

The Al-Qadsiah FC is a Saudi Arabian professional football club that competes in the Saudi Pro League, the highest tier of the Saudi football league system. The team is based in the Eastern city of Khobar and their home ground is the Prince Mohamed bin Fahd Stadium.

The 26,000-capacity Prince Mohammad bin Fahd Stadium is a multipurpose stadium in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
