ASM Global, the world’s leading producer of entertainment experiences, has named Lindsay Arell as the Chief Sustainability Officer and announced an intensified ramp-up of its efforts to convert its entire collection of 400 venues to the most sustainable on earth.

Lindsay Arell will be one of the Speakers at the Coliseum Summit US to be held at the GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, from June 5th-6th, 2024.

‘ASM Global’ stated that with over 50 Green certified venues, the ASM Global has the largest portfolio of such properties in the world.

Los Angeles (US)-based ASM Global is the world’s leading producer of entertainment experiences. It is the global leader in venue and event strategy and management – delivering locally tailored solutions and cutting-edge technologies to achieve maximum results for the venue owners. The company’s elite venue network spans five continents, with a portfolio of more than 400 of the world’s most prestigious arenas, stadiums, convention, and exhibition centers, and performing arts venues.

Remarked Ron Bension, ASM Global head honcho-cum-President, “As ASM looks to continue its leadership and commitment to sustainability, Lindsay who is known throughout our industry as a thought leader is the perfect person to assume this role.”

Arell has been pioneering sustainability efforts for the live event industry for two decades for the professional sports teams, venues and a wide array of events. After founding her own company Honeycomb Strategies, she led the development of the ASM Global Acts sustainability plan, an ambitious portfoliowide framework for reaching sustainability goals for the world’s largest venue manager.

Denver (US)-based the Honeycomb Strategies are sustainability specialists for live events. Honeycomb Strategies helps trade shows, conferences, venues, and organizations identify sustainable solutions, engage stakeholders, develop the data management systems, and implement programs to measure impact so that the events can thrive. From immediate action planning to long-term goals, the company’s work helps clients demonstrate leadership and commitment to environmental and social sustainability. As a certified women-owned business and accredited B Corporation, Honeycomb Strategies aims to inspire people to see sustainability as both an opportunity and responsibility.

The ASM Global Acts is a corporate social responsibility (CSR) platform that was launched in October 2021 by the ASM Global, the world’s leading venue management company and producer of live events. The platform is a commitment to social equity and global sustainability.

Arell led the ISO 20121 certifications for the 67,594-capacity Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (US) and the 70,240-capacity SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California (US), the first venues of their kind to be certified. She founded the Sustainable Sport Index, the sports industry’s first global benchmarking project on the impacts of teams, leagues and venues.

Denver (US)-based the Sustainable Sport Index (SSI) is an annual survey and benchmarking report produced by the Aptim Environmental and Infrastructure, Inc., (APTIM), an environmental consulting firm offering sustainability and energy solutions. The SSI analyzes the anonymized, self-reported survey data from the professional, minor league and collegiate sports venues. Unlike peer publications, the SSI is not a certification, award, or ranking.

As past Chair of both the Events Industry Council Sustainability Committee (EIC) and ASTM Venue Sustainability Standard, Arell is widely recognized as a standard bearer of responsible and game changing sustainability programs.

Enthused Arell, “I’m thrilled at the chance to spearhead ASM’s sustainability initiatives working alongside our teams and communities across our over 400 global venues. By providing our venue teams with the necessary knowledge and resources, we can accelerate the progress of our program significantly.”

Recently, Arell announced plans for ASM to join with r.World, the largest reuse platform, to quickly introduce reusable serviceware in venues throughout ASM’s the Global North American portfolio. The r.World works with the world-leading artistes including U2 (Irish rock band), Rolling Stones (English rock band), AJR (American indie pop band), Dave Matthews Band (American rock band), Jack Johnson (American singer-songwriter), and many more, as well as leading brands including Coca-Cola (drink industry company).

‘ASM Global’ further stated that Arell’s new post is a key part of ASM Global’s bold sustainability goals, announced in 2023, which include the elimination of single-use plastic. Protecting the environment is one of the three pillars in the ASM Global Acts platform, which also includes investing in people and strengthening the communities.

Unveiled in 2021, the ASM Global Acts has spearheaded numerous philanthropic endeavors, including expanded scholarship and internship programs, waste diversion and sustainability programs and community giving efforts.

Minneapolis (US)-based the r.World is the most sustainable, the most trusted and the most scalable solution for the reusable cups and serveware. It believes in a future without mountains of garbage and oceans of trash, so they are changing the way the world uses cups, clamshells and serveware. No more single-use products at the venues, live events, arenas, stadiums, or restaurants.
