In the struggle for an additional stadium the Bundesliga giants FC Bayern Munich (Germany) have a concrete solution in mind. Negotiations are at an advanced stage to buy a sports park from the City for €7.5 million.

‘WeLT’ stated that can FC Bayern soon look forward to a new arena? The German record champions are close to purchasing another stadium.

The FC Bayern Munich or simply Bayern is a German professional sports club based in Munich, Bavaria (Germany). They are most known for their Men’s professional football team who play in the Bundesliga, the top tier of the German football league system. Bayern are the most successful club in German football and are among the world’s most decorated having won a record 34 national titles alongside numerous European titles.

The Allianz Arena is a football stadium in Munich, Germany, with a 70,000 seating capacity for international matches and 75,000 for domestic matches. Widely known for its exterior of inflated ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) plastic panels it is the first stadium in the world with a full color changing exterior. It serves as the home ground of the FC Bayern Munich.

‘WeLT’ further stated that the club has played at the Allianz Arena since 2005. Since 2017, the Bayern Campus has been home to the club’s Youth and Women’s teams, among others, who play their games in the Campus. However, it only has a capacity to hold 2,500 spectators.

Beyond Bayern’s Goal

It is for the above reason that the Bayern Munich has set their sights on the Unterhaching site in Germany. The Unterhaching Sports Park is set to be sold to FC Bayern for around €7.5 million and chances are bright that Bayern Munich will be able to buy the park.

The regional league team Spielvereinigung Unterhaching currently plays at the sports park. The Haching President Manni Schwabl tried for several years to reach an agreement with the City as regards purchasing the sports park but in vain.

Now it’s Bayern’s turn: The Sportpark, where the Hachinger team played in the Bundesliga from 1999 to 2002, currently has a capacity to accommodate 15,000 spectators. The FC Bayern women’s team has long since proven that they attract fans. Top matches played at the Allianz Arena recently attracted a record crowd of over 50,000.

And what happens to the Spielvereinigung Unterhaching? The club can remain a tenant because for about a year now Bayern and the suburban club have been cooperating on their Youth programs.
