The Turkish professional sports club Beşiktaş (Türkiye) has reached a new three-year agreement with the company Tüpraş for stadium naming rights and advertising sponsorship worth 1.18 billion Turkish lira.

‘forbes.com.tr’ stated that the Beşiktaş Football Investments Industry and Trade Inc. announced its new sponsorship agreement to the public via a notification to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP). The company signed a stadium naming rights and advertising agreement with the Türkiye Petrol Rafinerileri A.Ş. (Tüpraş).

The Beşiktaş Jimnastik Kulübü (BJK) is a Turkish professional sports club founded in 1903 that is based in the Beşiktaş district of Istanbul (Türkiye). The club’s football team is one of the Big Three in Türkiye and one of the most successful teams in the country having never been relegated to a lower division. It was the first registered sports club in Türkiye and one of the few that acquired the right to bear the Turkish flag on its crest.

The 42,684-capacity Beşiktaş Stadium (currently known as the Tüpraş Stadium for sponsorship reasons) is an all-seater, multipurpose stadium in the Beşiktaş district of Istanbul, Türkiye. It is the home ground of Beşiktaş.

Istanbul-based the Türkiye Petrol Rafinerileri A.Ş. (Tüpraş) is a company in Türkiye operating four refineries with a total capacity to handle an annual 30 million tons of crude.

The Beşiktaş Football Investments Industry and Trade Inc. engages in the professional football business primarily in Türkiye. It also invests in the professional football teams and establishes and operates the football facilities. The company was incorporated in 1995 and is based in Istanbul, Türkiye.

‘forbes.com.tr’ further stated that the agreement will cover three seasons.

The new contract will be valid from the 2026-2027 seasons onwards and will last for a total of three seasons. The agreement, covering the 2026-2027, 2027-2028 and 2028-2029 seasons is valued at 1.18 billion TL + Value Added Tax (VAT). Beşiktaş will receive the entire amount in cash.

A performance bonus equal to the inflation rate will be added.

In addition to the fixed fee stipulated in the contract there are also additional payments linked to the sporting performance. If the club meets the specified performance criteria additional bonuses will be paid. The bonuses in the subsequent years will be updated according to the inflation rate.

The announcement made to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) stated, “A stadium naming rights and advertising agreement has been signed between our company and Türkiye Petrol Rafinerileri A.Ş. (Tüpraş) covering three seasons effective from the 2026-2027 seasons onwards. The total contract value for the 2026-2027, 2027-2028 and 2028-2029 seasons is 1.18 billion TL + VAT and the entire amount will be paid in advance. Furthermore, if the performance conditions specified in the contract are met a performance bonus of 51.2 million TL + VAT will be paid for the 2026-2027 seasons. In the subsequent seasons the performance bonus amount will be determined by adding the annual Consumer Price Index (CPI) rate announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) to the previous season’s bonus.”

Ankara (Türkiye)-based the Turkish Statistical Institute is a Turkish Government agency responsible for producing official statistics on Türkiye’s population, resources, economy, society, and culture.

Beşiktaş’s current stadium naming rights sponsor is Tüpraş. The last agreement between the parties was signed in September 2023. At that time Tüpraş paid more than 230 million Turkish lira annually, excluding VAT, for a three-year contract. In subsequent years, this amount was increased annually in line with the inflation rate. This amount was approximately equivalent to 8.5 million US dollars at the exchange rate of that period.

The contract signed this year was announced as a three-year lumpsum payment meaning the club will receive approximately $26.5 million excluding the performance bonuses.
