Premier League team Chelsea F.C. (UK) is playing the Good Samaritan role and has come to the rescue of small businesses which are reeling under the disastrous effects of COVID-19 but have yet put up a brave front as the new virus strain has sent the United Kingdom under lockdown. With lockdown and vaccine rollout, the coronavirus situation is slowly taking a turn for the better in UK and the top-notch club is taking this initiative to help these businesses get back on their feet.

‘Chelsea F.C.’ stated, “We are proud to support the small businesses that have kept London moving in this pandemic. To give a little back, we are offering free advertising space across our channels. This includes your logo on halftime and fulltime matchday posts and a branded Instagram story. With a digital community of over one hundred million fans around the world, small companies in London will gain significant exposure via this valuable advertising space that is usually only available to sponsorship partners or businesses buying one of our digital collaborations.”

‘Chelsea F.C.’ further stated that applications for the same closed on March 26th. Businesses with a London postcode, fewer than 50 employees and that have a website were invited to apply. Successful applicants will be chosen by Chelsea based on the efforts they have taken during the pandemic to launch, sustain or grow.

Chelsea Football Club is an English professional football club based in Fulham, London. Founded in 1905, the club competes in the Premier League, the top division of English football. The 41,837-capacity Stamford Bridge is the home venue of the club.

The above initiative was announced as an extension to Chelsea F.C.’s new ‘Proud of London’ campaign launched on March 10th as the club marked its 116th anniversary. The campaign was kicked off by former Blues midfielder and lifelong supporter Joe Cole, who narrated and starred in a short film celebrating real Londoners who have shown incredible patience, creativity and the entrepreneurship spirit and still have a lot of fire in their bellies despite COVID-19 casting a long shadow on mankind.

The campaign seeks to tap into Chelsea F.C.’s vast global digital community, offering small local businesses the chance to gain exposure on a scale like never before.

Commented Gary Twelvetree, Chelsea F.C. Marketing Director, “’Proud of London’ is our way of showing how incredibly inspired we’ve been of the City we call our home. London is full of creative minds that push boundaries, support each other and adapt to what has been an unprecedented challenge through the pandemic and subsequent lockdowns. We hope that we can continue to support this great City, just like it has supported us.”
