  • Nearly twice the original size center-hung video and scoreboard measuring 34×19 foot;
  • Second level outdoor patio;
  • Novel concept in food and beverage;
  • New team shop and box office;
  • Main concourse to be amplified;
  • Loud city fan zone;

  • New seats; and
  • New elevators.

At 668,000 ft2, Chesapeake Energy Arena is the second smallest in NBA. The City said spruce-up is the need of the hour as the 30-year-old facility will have to match up to state-of-the art facilities which venues boast these days. Reinvesting into infrastructure, maintenance and fan amenities is vital, a City statement further said.

“The stadium accounts for $90 million in direct spending annually in the local economy,” informs Tom Anderson, Special Projects Manager in the City Manager’s Office.
