The Climate Pledge Arena and the National Hockey League (NHL) team Seattle Kraken announced on October 8th details of the highly anticipated Opening Week to celebrate Seattle’s brand-new arena at Seattle Center (US).

The ‘Climate Pledge Arena’ stated that home of the 32nd NHL team Seattle Kraken, and the four-times Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) team champion Seattle Storm, the 18,000-seat privately-financed sports and entertainment arena will open its doors in just 11 days time.

The 17,459-capacity Climate Pledge Arena is a multipurpose arena in Seattle, Washington (US). It is located North of downtown Seattle in the 74-acre entertainment complex known as the Seattle Center, the site of the 1962 World’s Fair. It is all set to open its gates on October 22nd.

The Seattle Kraken is a professional ice hockey team based in Seattle, US. The Kraken competes in the NHL as a member of the Pacific Division in the Western Conference and will begin playing during the league’s 2021-2022 seasons. They will play their home games at the sleek Climate Pledge Arena.

The 2021-2022 NHL seasons will be the 105th season of operation (104th season of play) of the National Hockey League (NHL). The league expanded to 32 teams with the addition of the Seattle Kraken. The league plans to return to its normal October-to-April scheduling and a full 82-game regular season, with October 12th, 2021 scheduled for opening night.

The National Hockey League (NHL) is a professional ice hockey league in North America comprising 32 teams -25 in the United States and 7 in Canada. The Climate Pledge Arena project broke ground in December 2018 and has undergone an unparalleled transformation to create a brand-new arena under the historic roof. Opening Week activities celebrate the work of the thousands of construction, trade and craft workers who have worked on the project and honor its community partners and neighbors.

The ‘Climate Pledge Arena’ further stated that the Opening Week also celebrates the vitality of Seattle Center as it approaches the 60th anniversary of the 1962 World’s Fair, in April 2022, the legacy of an arts and cultural hub and public gathering place that fair founders envisioned. New initiatives, like Climate Pledge Arena, spur continued care and investment that will sustain Seattle Center long into the future.
