Paraguyan football team Club Guaraní have shown off renderings of their proposed new 15,000 capacity stadium.

The stadium will be surrounded on all sides by stands, with two tier tribunes featuring at both ends.

Club Guaraní is based in the neighbourhood of Pinozá in outer Asunción, Paraguay’s capital city.

Founded on 12 October 1903, it is one of the oldest and one of the most successful in the country, with 11 Primera División titles, and has never been relegated to a lower division.

The club currently plays at the 8,000-capacity Estadio Rogelio Livieres. Construction of the new venue is expected to get underway in 2025.

Earlier this year, Paraguay announced it would be building a new stadium in time for the 2030 World Cup.

The tournament will be unique as the first World Cup to be held across three different continents.

To celebrate the competition’s centenary, in addition to the tournament’s main base across Spain, Portugal and Morocco, FIFA announced that three games will be held in three different South American countries.

One of those is Paraguay, where CONMEBOL, the continent’s equivalent of UEFA, is based.

The organisation has announced that it will be building a brand-new stadium – Estadio CONMEBOL – to host its World Cup match.

The new venue has a planned capacity of 50,000, which would make it the largest stadium in Paraguay and the 24th-largest in South America.

It is expected to cost between $100 million and $250 million to build and will be fully equipped with the latest technology meeting FIFA requirements.

The stadium will be built in Asunción, the capital of Paraguay, although the specific location has not yet been decided upon.

The venue is also to be used by the confederation to host international events, possibly even the Copa Libertadores or Copa Sudamericana finals.
