The LaLiga club Sevilla FC announced on December 4th plans to renovate their home ground – the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium in Seville, Spain.

‘FRENCH FOOTBALL WEEKLY’ stated that the above decision has been taken keeping in mind the fact that the present generation of fans want to visit a real sleek-futuristic facility which the Sevilla FC home presently does not boast.

The Sevilla Fútbol Club is a Spanish professional football club based in Seville, the capital and largest City of the autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain. It plays in Spanish football’s top flight LaLiga. Sevilla have won the UEFA Cup/Europa League seven times, the most of any club.

The 43,883-capacity Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium is a football stadium in Seville, Spain. It is the home stadium of Sevilla Fútbol Club and is named after the club’s former President, Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán.

Nyon (Switzerland)-based the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) is one of six continental bodies of governance in association football. It governs football, futsal and beach football in Europe and the transcontinental countries of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Kazakhstan, as well as some Asian countries such as Israel, Cyprus and Armenia. The UEFA consists of 55 national association members. Because of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the FIFA and UEFA suspended all Russian national teams and clubs from any FIFA and UEFA competitions.

The UEFA Europa League is an annual football club competition organized since 1971 by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) for eligible European football clubs. It is the second-tier competition of European club football.

‘FRENCH FOOTBALL WEEKLY’ further stated that the stadium capacity will be increased from 43,883 to 55,000. The venue will be totally transformed into a multipurpose one with added attractions so that fans can visit the arena the whole year round and let their hair down. It will no longer remain a soccer-specific stadium.

The top-flight sent out a statement which read, “The Sevilla FC announced preliminary plans on December 4th to renovate their residence – the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium – on the occasion of the General Meeting of Shareholders. The ‘Los Nervionenses’ wants to upgrade their stadium and offer crème de la crème facilities to its fans in keeping with the present times. The present structure will be demolished and a cutting-edge venue will come up on the same site keeping intact the pristine sheen of the old stadium and also keeping in mind the interests of the community where the stadium will sit. The Sevilla FC promises to offer the plushest facilities to its supporters. Now, the club is waiting for approval from the General Assembly.”
