Cryto.com Arena completes third renovation phase Image: Coliseum GSVA

As the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, US, marked its milestone 25th anniversary on October 17th, the Downtown Los Angeles’s premier entertainment venue is unveiling a series of spectacular renovations and immersive experiences that elevate the guest experience to new heights.

‘hoopLA’ stated that from cutting-edge technology to chef-driven culinary adventures and VIP tours this iconic arena continues to redefine what’s possible in live entertainment.

The 20,000-capacity Crypto.com Arena is a multipurpose indoor arena in downtown Los Angeles (US). Opened on October 17th, 1999 as the Staples Center it is located next to the 72,134-capacity Los Angeles Convention Center complex along Figueroa Street and has since been considered a part of L.A. Live (a 5.6 million square foot entertainment complex in downtown Los Angeles, California). The facility serves as the home arena of the National Basketball Association (NBA) team Los Angeles Lakers, the National Hockey League (NHL) team Los Angeles Kings and the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) team Los Angeles Sparks.

A Legacy of Champions and Historic Moments

‘hoopLA’ further stated that since opening its doors on October 17th, 1999 with an electrifying Bruce Springsteen (American singer-songwriter and guitarist) concert, the Crypto.com Arena has been home to countless historic moments. The venue has hosted six Championships of the National Basketball Association (NBA) team Los Angeles Lakers, two Stanley Cup victories of the National Hockey League (NHL) team Los Angeles Kings and three Championships of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) team Los Angeles Sparks.

Perhaps most poignantly, the arena now features the stunning Kobe and Gigi Bryant statue at the newly christened Kobe Bryant Entrance, a touching tribute to the Lakers legend and his daughter.

Mesmerizing Fan Experience

The completion of Phase Three of its nine-figure renovation project brings exciting new amenities to every level of the arena. The stunning City View Terrace offers breathtaking views of the downtown LA skyline while providing an innovative indoor-outdoor social space. The premium spaces like the Yaamava’ Club by San Manuel and the expanded Lexus Club deliver elevated experiences for the VIP guests.

Revolutionary Culinary Adventures

The food and beverage (F&B) offerings have received a major upgrade with the introduction of several exciting new chef-driven concepts. One can’t stop raving about Doritos After Dark™, the first-ever Doritos restaurant. Chef Wiley Bates III and his team carefully curated a menu where Doritos (flavored tortilla chips) are the star of each recipe. Think Doritos Sushi, Doritos Burritos, Doritos Chicken Bites, Doritos cocktails, Doritos Nacho Cheese Crunchtastic Vanilla Cone, and the Doritos Flamin Hot Nacho Veggie Dumplings.

And that’s not all. Celebrity chef David Chang’s (American chef and restaurateur) fuku® brings its famous spicy fried chicken to the City View Terrace while the acclaimed chef Ludo Lefebvre (French chef and restaurateur) expands his arena presence with Ludobab (the Mediterranean food stand run by Lefebvre at the Crypto.com Arena) and the Trois Familia (French-Mexican fusion) concepts. The Fresh Brothers (Adam and Scott Goldberg, the Founders of the Fresh Brothers Pizza chain) also joins as the exclusive pizza partner ensuring premium quality slices for every event.

Cutting-edge Technology

The arena’s commitment to innovation is evident in its new technology implementations. A state-of-the-art center-hung scoreboard featuring 41.7 million pixels provides crystal-clear viewing from every angle. The introduction of Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology at the multiple locations, including the new LA Cooler Market and the South Park Market, streamlines the concession experience.

Sustainability and Safety take Center Stage

Environmental consciousness remains a priority with the arena becoming the first in Southern California to implement a full-time reusable cup program. The partnership with r.World (a reusable serveware company based in Minnesota, US) has already shown impressive results with over 23,000 single-use cups diverted during just two concerts in 2023.

Looking Ahead

The future looks bright for the Crypto.com Arena with an impressive lineup of events scheduled through 2028. The venue will host the 2025 GRAMMY Awards (its 22nd time), the 2027 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Men’s Basketball Regional and both men’s and women’s gymnastics competitions during the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Indianapolis (US)-based the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is a nonprofit organization that regulates student athletics among about 1,100 schools in the United States and one in Canada. It also organizes the athletic programs of the colleges and helps over 500,000 college student-athletes who compete annually in college sports.

The NCAA Division I basketball is the highest level of college basketball in the United States.

The 2028 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the XXXIV Olympiad and commonly known as Los Angeles 2028 or LA28, is an upcoming international multisport event scheduled to take place from July 14th-30th, 2028, in the United States.

VIP Tours: A New Way to Experience the Arena

For the first time in its 25-year history, the Crypto.com Arena is offering exclusive VIP tours to the public providing unprecedented access to the areas previously off-limits. Ever wonder what Taylor Swift’s (American singer-songwriter) dressing room looks like? Or what it’s like to chill in the Delta SKY360° Club? Well, now the fans can find out firsthand. In partnership with the Delta Air Lines, these tours offer intimate glimpses into spaces where legends like Taylor Swift, Beyoncé (American singer-songwriter and businesswoman) and Kobe Bryant (American basketball shooting guard) have made history.

Enthused Danielle Snyder, Senior Vice-President of Arena Services at Crypto.com Arena, “We’re so excited to be able to offer what our guests have been asking for since 1999 – to see the Crypto.com Arena, the premier sports and live entertainment center of the world, from a behind-the-scenes perspective. We’ve had 25 years of historic and iconic moments and we’re thrilled to showcase our proud history.”
