Los Angeles best venues’ foot forward for LA28

On April 15^th, the LA28 unveiled the most comprehensive look at the 2028 Olympic venue plan to date following approval from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board recently. With this plan the LA28 is set to host the greatest collection of athletes in world-class venues across the region showcasing all the best that Los Angeles has to offer.

The 2028 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the XXXIV Olympiad and commonly known as Los Angeles 2028 or LA28, is an upcoming international multisport event scheduled to take place from July 14^th-30^th, 2028 in the United States. Los Angeles will be the Host City with various events also scheduled to be held at the other Cities spread across the Greater Los Angeles area plus two subsites in Oklahoma City.

The 2028 Summer Paralympics, also known as the 18th Summer Paralympic Games or as the Games of the XVIII Paralympiad and branded as Los Angeles 2028 or LA28, is an upcoming international multisport parasports event scheduled to take place from August 15^th-27^th, 2028 in Los Angeles, California, United States.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is the international, non-Governmental, sports governing body of the modern Olympic Games. Founded in 1894 by Pierre de Coubertin and Demetrios Vikelas it is based in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The 2028 Olympic venue plan invites the communities from across the region to celebrate the Games coming to their backyard with the most exciting sports staged at some of the world’s top-tier existing stadiums and arenas, famous beaches and purpose-built temporary structures.”

‘LA28’ stated that as the organizer for the 2028 Games the LA28 will stage events across the entire City and the County at prime competition locations. The Olympic footprint will extend North to the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area (the second-largest urban park in Los Angeles) which will host the Olympic events for the first time in history in 2028 where 3×3 Basketball and Modern Pentathlon will officially join several other high-energy disciplines including BMX Freestyle, BMX Racing, Skateboarding Park, and Skateboarding Street.

Also in the San Fernando Valley (urbanized valley in Los Angeles County, California) Squash will make its Olympic debut against one of Hollywood’s most iconic and recognizable backdrops.

The scenic and vibrant coastline of Venice Beach (buzzing beach town in Los Angeles) will serve as the new home of Triathlon which is relocating from Long Beach (City in California). This historic beachfront neighborhood in Los Angeles will also host the official starting locations for the Marathon and Cycling Road courses.

Heading inland toward downtown Rhythmic Gymnastics will take center stage at the 10,258-capacity USC Sports Center where the athletes and the fans will join one of the main competition zones in Los Angeles. This relocation aligns with LA28’s commitment to maximize the use of the existing world-class facilities as the USC Sports Center will also stage events for Badminton as previously announced.

‘LA28’ further stated that boxing, recently reinstated to the 2028 sport program by the IOC last month will hold preliminary matches at the 7,100-capacity Peacock Theater in Downtown Los Angeles.

America’s favorite pastime will capture the world’s attention when Baseball makes its Olympic return to the 56,000-capacity Dodger Stadium in Downtown Los Angeles.
In 2028, the West Coast will welcome back Cricket to the Olympic stage for the first time in more than a century. Cricket (T20), a globally renowned sport which was added to the 2028 Olympic sport program in 2023, will make its Southern California debut at the Fairgrounds in Pomona in a temporary, purpose-built structure.

Sport Climbing will take place at the 64,013-capacity Convention Center Lot in Long Beach, California, offering stunning views, framing the temporary climbing wall with the nearby Pacific Ocean as an iconic backdrop.

Volleyball will be held at the 18,336-capacity Honda Center in Anaheim (California) marking the first time this premier entertainment and sports venue will host an Olympic event.
