Construction work has officially begun on the new stadium of the Romanian professional football club CS Dinamo București, a long-awaited project valued at EUR 172 million that is scheduled for completion in 2028.

‘Romania-Insider.com’ stated that the club officials announced that the first construction equipment entered the site in the Ștefan cel Mare area of Bucharest (Romania) on January 19th.

The Clubul Sportiv Dinamo București, commonly known as CS Dinamo București, or simply as Dinamo, is a Romanian football team based in Bucharest (Romania). It presently competes in Liga II, the second level of the Romanian football league system.

The 15,032-capacity Dinamo Stadium is a multipurpose stadium in Bucharest, Romania. It is used mostly for football matches and serves as the home ground of CS Dinamo București.

CS Dinamo said on its Facebook page, “The big day has arrived. Today, January 19th, 2026, construction has officially begun on the new Dinamo stadium.”

‘Romania-Insider.com’ further stated that the National Investment Company also confirmed that it formally handed over the site to the construction consortium led by BOG’Art alongside ACI Cluj, Dico și Țigănaș Architectural Office and the UTI Construction and Facility Management. The consortium has a 25-month execution deadline during which it will organize the construction site and carry out the main works.

Bucharest (Romania)-based the National Investment Company (CNI), established in 2001, is a State-owned entity focused on financing and constructing public infrastructure, particularly sports halls, swimming pools and cultural buildings. It operates under the authority of the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration to implement specific national investment programs.

Bog’Art is a privately-owned Romanian construction company established in 1991 with its headquarters in Bucharest (Romania). The existing Dinamo stadium was inaugurated in 1951 and underwent several renovations over the decades but have significantly deteriorated in recent years. The prolonged uncertainty surrounding its legal status led to repeated postponements of the redevelopment plans.

The new arena will have 25,059 seats and will meet the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Category 4 standards. The project also includes modern changing rooms, media and broadcast facilities, updated sanitary infrastructure, and full accessibility for people with disabilities.

Nyon (Switzerland)-based the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) is one of six continental bodies of governance in association football. It governs football, futsal and beach football in Europe and the transcontinental countries of Russia (suspended), Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Kazakhstan, as well as the West Asian countries of Cyprus, Armenia and Israel. The UEFA consists of 55 national association members. After the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine the FIFA and the UEFA has suspended all Russian national teams and clubs from any FIFA and UEFA competitions.

The UEFA Category 4 standards are the highest infrastructure requirements for European football stadiums mandatory for hosting group stage matches in elite competitions.

In addition to the football stadium the complex will feature training halls for boxing, weightlifting, judo, wrestling, gymnastics, fitness, and fencing, accommodation spaces, technical and storage areas as well as a Mobile Emergency Service for Resuscitation and Extrication (SMURD) emergency heliport and an exhibition area.
