CUE fan-driven light show at Alinma Stadium

CUE implemented its smartphone light show in Saudi Arabia recently at a Saudi Pro League football match.

‘avinteractive.com’ stated that the game at the Alinma Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the home of Saudi Arabia’s oldest club Al-Ittihad, saw more than 33,000 fans involved in the immersive experience.

Franklin (US)-based CUE create fan-first technology for the premium brand and event experiences allowing the fans to lean in and feel more like a part of the event while providing valuable brand activations. Founded in 2017, CUE revolutionized fan engagement by leveraging the power of data-through-sound creating synchronized cellphone light shows and engaging second-screen experiences without the need for additional hardware. In 2022, CUE expanded their product offering to include both mobile and main board-focused fan engagement putting innovation and client results at the forefront.

Riyadh (Saudi Arabia)-based the Saudi Pro League (SPL), also known as the Roshn Saudi League (RSL) for sponsorship reasons, is a professional association football league in Saudi Arabia and the highest level of the Saudi football league system.

The 63,079-capacity King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, known as the Alinma Stadium due to sponsorship reasons, also nicknamed ‘The Shining Jewel’, or simply ‘The Jewel’, is a multiuse stadium and the main stadium of the Sports City located 30 kilometers North of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The Al-Ittihad Club, commonly known as Al-Ittihad, or simply Ittihad, is a Saudi professional football club based in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia). It was founded in 1927. The club has spent its entire history in the top flight of football in Saudi Arabia currently known as the Saudi Pro League. The Alinma Stadium serves as their residence.

‘avinteractive.com’ further stated that the activation of synchronized phone lights – which were accessed by downloading an app via a QR code – was one of CUE’s largest fan-driven light shows.

The event also introduced FanSee, CUE’s interactive livestream platform, which allows the spectators to share real-time videos directly on to the stadium’s big screens. The feature was activated six times during the match with over 30 minutes of total screen time.

A total of 2,422 fans scanned in for a chance to be featured with more than 150 livestreams making it to the big screen including the VIP highlights showcasing special guests in the crowd.

The US-based digital fan-experience specialist CUE works with organizations such as the National Football League (NFL), the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the National Hockey League (NHL) as well as clubs such as the Premier League teams Tottenham Hotspur F.C., Arsenal F.C. (UK), the NBA teams Boston Celtics, the Los Angeles Lakers and the NFL team Kansas City Chiefs.
