Dresdner SC home to be transfigured

A decision to transfigure and expand the Heinz-Steyer-Stadium in Dresden, Germany, has been reached. The facility will be converted into a multifunctional arena enjoying 10,000 seats and the tab would be picked up by the Free State of Saxony. The rehabilitation work is expected to be completed in 2023 and as a result the arena will be able to accommodate up to 15,000 more spectators.

A fencing hall, sports rooms, fitness areas, eateries to cater to the gastronomes and a plaza as the central entrance to the Ostra Sports Park in Dresden is also being planned as part of the revamp work.

The Heinz-Steyer-Stadion is a football and athletics stadium in Dresden, Germany, which is presently the residence of German club Dresdner SC. It can hold roughly 30,000 spectators but is currently restricted to about 5,000 for soccer matches. It was also the first stadium of Dynamo Dresden.

Dresdner SC is a German multisport club playing in Dresden, Saxony (Germany). Founded on April 30^th, 1898, the club was a founding member of the German Football Association in the year 1900.

Dynamo Dresden is a German football club in Dresden, Saxony. After the reunification of Germany in 1990, Dynamo played four seasons in the top division Bundesliga (1991-95), but has since shuttled between the second and fourth tiers. Though the club used to earlier play in the Heinz-Steyer-Stadion, but its present digs is the Rudolf Harbig Stadion in Dresden, Germany.

The Europe-wide award procedure – as regards picking up a contractor – for the rehabilitation and expansion of the Heinz-Steyer-Stadium, carried out by STESAD GmbH recently in the form of a tender on behalf of the Saxony State capital Dresden, was indeed a watershed moment.

The whole tender process for redecorating the venue saw stiff competition and the 13-person jury unanimously decided in favor of BAM Sports GmbH, Germany, who would redecorate the facility.
