The German Football Association (DFB) along with the City of Düsseldorf in Germany has submitted an application to host the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™.

‘D.SPORTS’ stated that Düsseldorf – along with the MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA – was included in the final group of applicant Cities by the German Football Association.

The German Football Association (DFB) is the governing body of football in Germany. A founding member of FIFA and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), the DFB has jurisdiction for the German football league system and is in charge of the men’s and women’s national teams. The DFB headquarters are in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

The 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup™ will be the 10th edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup™, the quadrennial international women’s football championship contested by the national teams of the member-associations of FIFA.

The MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA is a multifunctional football stadium in Düsseldorf, Germany. The stadium holds 54,600 and has a retractable roof. Its special heating system allows the stadium to host comfortable events even when Winter is at its peak.

‘D.SPORTS’ further stated that the DFB intends to apply along with the Netherlands and Belgium to host the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™. Apart from Düsseldorf, seven other Cities of Germany have expressed their interest in hosting the FIFA show.

Commented Dr. Stephan Keller, Lord Mayor of Düsseldorf, “Today, we proved once again that Düsseldorf is one of the top Cities to hosting showcase events. The awarding of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™ to our strong applicant alliance with the Netherlands, Belgium and the four German Cities would be another important impetus to strengthen our girls’ and women’s football and to present ourselves to a global audience in 2027 to be able to present a real Sports City.”

Maintained Michael Brill, head honcho, D.LIVE, “We are already well prepared and hopeful that we will be able to host the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™. Organizing top events with international appeal at the highest level is one of our core competencies. Düsseldorf is one of the best event destinations in Germany and would be a representative venue for this tournament if FIFA allows us to host the showpiece event.”

Maintained Martin Ammermann, Authorized Officer and Executive Director, Sports Major Events at D.LIVE, “Our arguments were already convincing in the application process for the UEFA EURO 2024 or other major sporting events with global appeal. We are totally confident of holding the FIFA women’s spectacle in 2027 along with Dortmund, Duisburg and Cologne as well as the Netherlands and Belgium.”

Added Laura Becker, General Manager, MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA, “The DFB and FIFA hold strong influence over venues. The MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA is a hot favorite for hosting sporting extraordinaires. The multipurpose arena is being added a futuristic touch and can host various kinds of events.”

Put in Elisabeth Wilfart, Equal Opportunities Officer of the City of Düsseldorf, “Awarding the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™ to Düsseldorf would be an important building block in strengthening girls’ and women’s sports in our City. I am pleased that we are part of the strong alliance of applicants.”
