The 2028 Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) European Football Championship, commonly referred to as UEFA EURO 2028, or simply EURO 2028, will be the 18th UEFA European Championship, the quadrennial international football championship. It will be co-hosted by England, the Republic of Ireland, Scotland, and Wales and is scheduled to take place from June 9th-July 9th, 2028.

Nyon (Switzerland)-based the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) is one of six continental bodies of governance in association football. It governs football, futsal and beach football in Europe and the transcontinental countries of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Kazakhstan as well as the West Asian countries of Cyprus, Armenia and Israel. Since 2022, due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the FIFA and UEFA suspended all Russian national teams and clubs from any FIFA and UEFA competitions.

There are nods to the past everywhere. The old railroad tracks and Grade II-listed Victorian hydraulic tower have been painstakingly restored. The latticework design by the renowned Scottish Architect Archibald Leitch still present on two of the four stands at the Goodison Park is incorporated into the brickwork.

Just one stand was open for the February 17th game – the steep-tiered South Stand that will eventually house 14,000 people. Inside there is row upon row of food and drinks stand. One can find one’s standard football fare – the three flavors of pies are selling well. But also on the menu are Korean sticky chicken and salt and pepper chicken subs.
