Fan experience upgrades at Target Field

Major League Baseball’s (MLB) Minnesota Twins are planning infrastructure and technology enhancements at Target Field ahead of the 2025 season.

The upgrades are aimed at greatly improving convenience, efficiency and the overall fan experience at the ballpark.

MLB.com said upgrades include a new, market-style open concessions layout on part of the main concourse and adoption of the optional MLB Go-Ahead Entry system at select ballpark entrances.

MyVenue technology for all concession and premium seating point-of-sale locations will also be implemented, while a partnership with American Tower will deliver an expansive, ballpark-wide upgrade to 5G via a state-of-the-art distributed antenna system (DAS).

Twins Senior Vice President, Operations Matt Hoy, said, “A hallmark of the Pohlad family’s ownership is their continued investment in, and enhancement of, Target Field to ensure our ballpark continues to evolve and provide the best possible fan experience.

“This offseason has been no different, with several upgrades – both visible and behind the scenes – that modernize key aspects, markedly improve guest convenience and comfort, and elevate the overall quality of a day or evening spent at Target Field.”

Target Field is a 39,500-capacity baseball stadium in the historic warehouse district of downtown Minneapolis. Since its opening in 2010, the stadium has been the ballpark of Major League Baseball’s Minnesota Twins.

In collaboration with the Minnesota Ballpark Authority and club food service and retail partner Delaware North, the Twins have modernized one of the most highly-trafficked concession areas of Target Field.

They have replaced the traditional “belly-up” model for food stands at sections 105 and 109 on the main concourse with new open-air, self-serve market concepts totaling 4,400 square feet of renovated spaces.

The new layouts increase point-of-sale from 29 to 41 and allows for a free-flowing shopping experience, providing fans with a quicker, more efficient and more convenient way to get their favorite food and beverages.

Twins fans will enjoy access to a variety of hot foods and ballpark favorites, grab-and-go snack options, ice cream, a soda fountain and grab-and-go beer coolers.

They can also enter the venue using the MLB Go-Ahead Entry facial authentication-based ticket validation system developed by Major League Baseball.

Fans who choose to use Go-Ahead Entry at Target Field may do so through a designated lane each at Gates 3, 6, 29 and 34.

The Twins have also upgraded Target Field’s point-of-sale technology at all concessions and premium seating locations to the state-of-the-art MyVenue system, which is utilized at renowned venues such as Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis and Sphere in Las Vegas.

MyVenue is a fast, intuitive and user-friendly technology that allows fans throughout Target Field to quickly and easily make their food and beverage purchases.

Meanwhile, the Twins’ new partnership with American Tower will deliver an expansive, ballpark-wide upgrade to 5G via a state-of-the-art distributed antenna system (DAS).

Once complete, cellular network coverage will be expanded by 82 percent within Target Field and will be upgraded to the 5G system for all three major mobile network carriers, significantly improving data upload and download speeds throughout the ballpark.

DAS infrastructure work began in January and is expected to be completed in September.

The Twins host the Houston Astros on Thursday, April 3 for the 2025 Home Opener at Target Field.
