The Serie A team Como 1907 (Italy) as well as their fans are still waiting with bated breath for the former’s first win in Serie A.

‘IL GIORNO’ stated that however, the fans are full of beans and rejoicing as the top-flight club is returning to their home ground – the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia in Como, Italy – which has been undergoing renovations to meet the Serie A standards.

The Supervisory Commission for Public Entertainment gave the green light on September 4th for the team to return to their abode – the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia – and the first game will be held on September 14th against their peer team the Bologna FC 1909.

The Como 1907, commonly referred to as Como, is an Italian professional football club based in Como, Lombardy (Italy). The club competes in the Serie A, the first tier of Italian football.

The Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia is a multiuse stadium in Como, Italy. It is currently used mostly for football matches as the home ground of the Como 1907. The stadium holds 10,584 people. The stadium was completed in 1927. It is named after the Italian rower and war hero Giuseppe Sinigaglia, a native of Como.

The Como 1907 won promotion to Serie A in May this year marking the club’s return to the top flight for the first time in 21 years. Since confirmation of their promotion in May, significant renovation work has been underway at the Sinigaglia, the club’s home since it opened in 1927.

‘IL GIORNO’ further stated that the stadium now features a newly expanded capacity of 10,584 seats, up from its previous capacity of 7,498. Due to the ongoing construction work, Como has played its first three Serie A fixtures away from home. However, after a recent safety inspection by the local authorities, the Sinigaglia has been deemed fit to host Como’s league match against Bologna on September 14th.

Informed Corrado Conforto Galli, Prefect of Como, “On September 4th, a meeting of the Supervisory Commission for Public Entertainment was held at the Sinigaglia Stadium in order to ascertain whether the sports facility is ready again to host matches. The facility is being upgraded to meet the Serie A benchmarks. The facility was thoroughly monitored, checks performed and the go-ahead to host fixtures again was given. Following the upgrades, 10 seats have been provided for the physically challenged fans and the same number of seats for their attendants in the Central Stand of the stadium.”

Added Galli, “I would like to thank all the Members of the Provincial Supervisory Commission, the Municipality of Como and the Como 1907 club for their commitment towards the project. The installation of cameras in the road leading up to the guest parking area and the stadium will be completed soon and the same will be connected to the operations room of the police headquarters.”

Concluded Alessandro Rapinese, Mayor of Como, who was a part of the Supervisory Commission team which carried out the stadium inspection on September 4th, “I am satisfied with the upgrades and it was me who requested in May this year that upgrade work be carried out in the venue and also to expand the capacity of the Sinigaglia Stadium after the Como 1907 got promoted to Serie A after a 21-year top title drought.”
